This article from the Hindu Times tells us yet again that global warming is being used as an excuse to blackmail western politicians into paying "carbon reparations" or "indulgences" to the poor under-developed world (who will take the money and carry on developing at our expense). Meanwhile CO2 will go on rising and the whole merry-go-round of climate conferences and agreements goes on, and on.

This report contains the latest graphs of global average temperatures up to 2008, with the corresponding graph of CO2 levels overlaid for comparison. Alarmists are still desparately trying to prove that the world is still warming up, but the evidence is steadily stacking against them.

On page 6 of this booklet is a record of the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere measured by traditional chemical methods from 1800 up to 1961 when they ended and were replaced by modern methods of infra-red spectrometry. The historical measurements are very different from those which are now being used by the IPCC to show the "revised" scientific record of CO2 used to back up the theory of man-made CO2 causing global warming. As CO2 is constantly being added and removed from the atmosphere by living organisms it is likely that the level will vary from day to day and place to place. This is not the picture we are given by the IPCC who want to show that there is a "background" level which is increasing year on year. This subject has been investigated by Ernst Beck who has written a paper on the subject here.

Here is an interesting article which compares the false belief by the majority of people in authority in the integrity of financial markets with the current (false) belief in the theory of CO2 causing global warming. It is an incisive piece which sees a common thread of belief in something which turns out, as we can now see, to be badly flawed. The author warns us that in modern times with mass media, it is easy for us to "sleep-walk" into accepting the received wisdom or those in authority without question.

Here's a report that tells us what the public are thinking. The fact is that most of the public have realised that global warming is being exaggerated to justify the political decisions and taxes being pushed upon them. They see the hypocrisy in politicians jetting off to conferences consuming massive amounts of carbon while preaching to the rest of us to cut back. The public know that the climate around them is not getting appreciably warmer and they also know that China emits massive amounts of CO2 and so any savings they make would not make any difference anyway. The public are not stupid.

This article explains the negotiations which have lead to the compromise. Common sense is at last overcoming extreme global warming dogma.

Christopher Booker tells the story in his Sunday Telegraph column here.
Compared to Earth, Mars is pretty simple: no oceans with complex thermo-haline flows or El Ninos, no complicated continental or vegetation patterns nor even the unpredictable chaos of the climate determining clouds and water vapour and certainly no evil CO2 emitting humans. But NASA just admitted that their most sophisticated climate models cannot predict the climate on Mars: "It's a bit of a mystery how this is happening ..... Global climate models that are running on Mars would not predict this", NASA's chief scientist said. See here for the article.
The whole fraud of human caused global warming is based upon NASA's climate models of the earth and if they can't get even close in the relatively simple environment of Mars then portraying that the models are reliable in the vastly more complicated environment of earth is nonsense and so is everything else based on it!

Here's an excellent piece by Dominic Lawson which exposes the utter futility of the Kyoto type of policy with carbon trading, offsets and the rest. The whole thing is simply a recipe for corruption on a grand scale, while the honest go to the wall. At the same time hardly any CO2 is actually saved. It simply gets emitted from elsewhere. How fortunate that it doesn't actually matter anyway from a climate point of view.

An Oxfam director said at the recent conference in Poland that the developing world will need between 50 and 80 billion dollars a year to "fight climate change", according to this report in the Washington Post. Yet another glimpse of the true agenda of the UN. You note there is no mention of the chance of success in the fight, because they know that there is no prospect of all this having any effect whatsoever.

Local councils are being pressured by the LGA (Local Government Association), in an unprecedented move, to get them to sign up to support the unilateral cuts in CO2 emissions contained in the Climate Change Act. This statement is part of a little known document called the Nottingham Declaration. The LGA is determined to get all local councils to sign up by the end of the year and so are chasing the 10% who have not yet signed. My own council - New Forest - is the latest to sign, despite the doubts of some members. Given the massive propaganda campaign by the government, backed by most of the media it is not surprising that the majority of councillors would support this, but there is no doubt that opposition would be much higher if councillors were not pressured into voting for something that many do not really support. In the end I was the only councillor who voted against it, something I was prepared to do no matter what the consequences. It will be interesting to see if there is any press reaction to my objection. Of course I appreciate that this is of little interest to the majority of the general public who are concentrating on who is going to win the next TV talent contest. They will only become interested in this debate when the lights go out due to power cuts and their jobs disappear to China and India.
EU emissions cuts could be reduced by as little as 4% by 2020, according to this report when all the offset schemes are taken into account. This will have zero effect on the amount of CO2 in the atmospheric level of the gas, which will go on increasing due to the increases from the likes of China and India. It is now clear that there is no way we can control our CO2 output, let alone control the climate. The public are fast realising this for themselves, despite all the hand-ringing from our political masters along with emotive pictures of melting ice and stranded polar bears.

Alarmists often dismiss the views of climate sceptics by saying that only a few "fringe" scientists disagree with the "consensus" view, or that the lists of sceptic scientists are not experts in the field of climate science. To rebut this sort of nonsense it may be better to present them with a shorter list containing scientists with such impeccable credentials that no one could possibly claim they were not qualified. To help, I present such a list below. It is not meant to be a complete list, but simply a very impressive one.
Dr. Edward Wegman--former chairman of the Committee on Applied and Theoretical Statistics of the National Academy of Sciences--demolished the famous "hockey stick" graph that launched the global warming panic.
Dr. David Bromwich--president of the International Commission on Polar Meteorology--says "it's hard to see a global warming signal from the mainland of Antarctica right now."
Prof. Paul Reiter--Chief of Insects and Infectious Diseases at the famed Pasteur Institute--says "no major scientist with any long record in this field" accepts Al Gore's claim that global warming spreads mosquito-borne diseases.
Prof. Hendrik Tennekes--director of research, Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute--states "there exists no sound theoretical framework for climate predictability studies" used for global warming forecasts.
Dr. Christopher Landsea--past chairman of the American Meteorological Society's Committee on Tropical Meteorology and Tropical Cyclones--says "there are no known scientific studies that show a conclusive physical link between global warming and observed hurricane frequency and intensity."
Dr. Antonino Zichichi--one of the world's foremost physicists, former president of the European Physical Society, who discovered nuclear antimatter--calls global warming models "incoherent and invalid."
Dr. Zbigniew Jaworowski--world-renowned expert on the ancient ice cores used in climate research--says the U.N. "based its global-warming hypothesis on arbitrary assumptions and these assumptions, it is now clear, are false."
Prof. Tom V. Segalstad--head of the Geological Museum, University of Oslo--says "most leading geologists" know the U.N.'s views "of Earth processes are implausible."
Dr. Syun-Ichi Akasofu--founding director of the International Arctic Research Center, twice named one of the "1,000 Most Cited Scientists," says much "Arctic warming during the last half of the last century is due to natural change."
Dr. Claude Allegre--member, U.S. National Academy of Sciences and French Academy of Science, he was among the first to sound the alarm on the dangers of global warming. His view now: "The cause of this climate change is unknown."
Dr. Richard Lindzen--Professor of Meteorology at M.I.T., member, the National Research Council Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate, says global warming alarmists "are trumpeting catastrophes that couldn't happen even if the models were right."
Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov--head of the space research laboratory of the Russian Academy of Science's Pulkovo Observatory and of the International Space Station's Astrometria project says "the common view that man's industrial activity is a deciding factor in global warming has emerged from a misinterpretation of cause and effect relations."
Dr. Richard Tol--Principal researcher at the Institute for Environmental Studies at Vrije Universiteit, and Adjunct Professor at the Center for Integrated Study of the Human Dimensions of Global Change, at Carnegie Mellon University, calls the most influential global warming report of all time "preposterous . . . alarmist and incompetent."
Dr. Sami Solanki--director and scientific member at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany, who argues that changes in the Sun's state, not human activity, may be the principal cause of global warming: "The sun has been at its strongest over the past 60 years and may now be affecting global temperatures."
Prof. Freeman Dyson--one of the world's most eminent physicists says the models used to justify global warming alarmism are "full of fudge factors" and "do not begin to describe the real world."
Dr. Eigils Friis-Christensen--director of the Danish National Space Centre, vice-president of the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, who argues that changes in the Sun's behavior could account for most of the warming attributed by the UN to man-made CO2.

Further evidence of the cooler weather in this report from China will concern the warming alarmists, worried that the public might not accept the endless exhortations to "stop climate change" are urgent to "save the planet" from "catastrophic global warming".
Sunday, 14 December 2008
Corus threatens to leave the EU and take its jobs to China. How many others will follow suit? When the public see the reality it will be all but impossible for any elected leader to pursue these emissions policies. Such policies will be dead in the water.

Here is the unacceptable face of environmentalism funded by well-meaning middle-class people thinking they are giving to a good cause.
One of the reasons why global warming has such a powerful lobby is that it is supported by so many disparate groups for different reasons - from those who simply want to preserve a clean pollution-free environment to those who want to overthrow the modern capitalist system and replace it with who knows what. The question is; can such a coalition hold together? Not once the nice people see just how unpleasant the anarchists can be, is the answer I would give.
This report in the Telegraph explains why experts criticise the plans of the government's Climate Change Committee as unrealistic. But do the government really care, when they are very likely to be out of office when the lights go out.

YES CO2 IS THE MAIN CAUSE OF CLIMATE CHANGE - 125 VOTES (11%)
NO CO2 IS NOT THE MAIN CAUSE OF CLIMATE CHANGE - 920 VOTES (88%)
After almost a year, our poll closed today. The result is very clear - 88% of readers answered NO they do not accept that CO2 is the main cause of climate change. Clearly there is a major disconnection between those who govern us and the people. I expected to find a majority would answer NO, but such an emphatic result was a surprise.
I believe the public are increasingly sceptical of officialdom in general. There is real cynicism of government. Far from solving our problems, many people perceive the goverment IS the problem.
How refreshing to read a report that states an honest opinion of the science of global warming by a body that is generally well-respected. Here is just such a report by the US Miltary. Look how quickly the alarmists try to close them down and dismiss it. How worried they must be that others may follow, inadvertently letting the cat out of the bag.
This article explains that we could obtain 20% of our energy needs by burning waste rather than recycling by 2020. An interesting thought in the current economic climate when we are creating mountains of waste for which there is no market to recycle.

Tough new controls on CO2 emissions are threatening the jobs of metal workers in the EU. This article explains how they protested outside the EU Parliament in Brussels to try to get the EU to see how their policies were simply driving jobs away.
Wednesday, 10 December 2008
This article spells out the huge problems emerging between EU members. It is looking increasingly unlikely that anything other than a fudge can emerge from the current talks.
The USA and Japan have said that any new emissions treaty must include developing nations too. See this report. Agreement looks highly unlikely, making the UK's unilateral action the most futile and expensive gesture in history.
Tuesday, 9 December 2008
This report in the Telegraph explains how fuel price rises of 25% caused by the cost of building new expensive wind farms are driving the poor into fuel poverty. And all because of the flimsy case that CO2 is the cause of dangerous global warming.

Standsted airport was disrupted today by about 50 extremists - see this report for details. No doubt they were emboldened by the recent lunatic decision over the coal-fired power station protest.
This report in the Guardian confirms what we have suspected, which is that the average global temperature in 2008 is set to be the lowest since 1998. However, the alarmists warn us that global warming has not stopped, it has merely paused, but will resume in 2015 - we will wait and see!
This report explains that in several countries glaciers which had been retreating until recently were now starting to grow again. Yet more evidence that global warming has ceased. Of course no one can predict the future, but that is reason enough not to waste billions of pounds to prevent something that may not even be a problem at all. Of course this fact will never be seen on the BBC or other mainstream broadcaster - I wonder why?

This week Christopher looks at the UK government's Climate Change Committee's suggestions on how we are going to achieve the massive reduction in CO2 emissions. As he says, they seem to be living in a fantasy world, along with the government.
Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic, is poised to take over the Presidency of the EU after Nicholas Sarkozy finishes his six month term. It will be interesting to see if a climate sceptic president can have any influence over the rampant climate alarmism that has dominated the EU in recent years. Just look at this report on EU Referendum Blog to see the sort of hostility he faces from the "green brigade", or rather former red bandit, Daniel Cohn-Bendit. Vaclav is a courageous politician who speaks his mind, if only we had more like him.
Have a look at this alarmist propaganda which is nothing more than deliberate scare-mongering with no foundation in scientific fact at all. To portray the prospect of dramatic imminent sea-level rise which is not predicted by any mainstream climate scientist is simply irresponsible nonsense.

Now that nuclear protests have gone out of fashion the Extreme Left have adopted the new cause of climate change to try to destroy capitalism. Today they have organised a march on Westminster here in the UK - see this report for details. This time the Right are not opposing them, but trying a new strategy of appearing to agree with them. The trouble is, that by conceding the ground to them we are seeing the truth in the old saying "give an inch and they will take a mile". Mind you, in the end we will never concede enough ground to satisfy them. So much for the new politics of non-confrontation.
As we have noted before, the real purpose of climate change talks is not to reduce CO2 levels, but to re-distribute wealth from rich western nations to poorer developing nations.Unless all nations make equal efforts then the target will not be achieved, and, according to the alarmist "experts" the "catastrophe" is coming. When will the people in the west wake up and realise they are being shafted by their own goverments? See this article to see the attitude of India and China in demanding money from the West.
Friday, 5 December 2008
This article gives the details of how some nations within the EU are going to struggle to meet the CO2 targets, and these are the "easier" targets. One can only guess that as the cuts get deeper the pain will increase, and all for nothing! This is one of the daftest episodes in modern politics (for which there is a great deal of competition).
Thursday, 4 December 2008
Former Conservative minister, Peter Lilley has criticised the lack of financial scrutiny of the UK's climate change bill. It could cost each citizen as much as £10,000 he warns. The government's figures are naturally vague and the true cost and benefits (if there are any)are open to question.
The UK's renewable energy targets were also criticised in a House of Lords report which stated that they will add £80 a year to energy bills, though the targets were unlikely to be met.
This article about a climate conference in Indonesia (yes another bondoogle for "experts" to create more hot air!) explains how one scientist has tried to get them to look more openly at the science rather than use the totally blinkered vision that nearly all such events use. I wish him good luck!

Tuesday, 2 December 2008
This article in the Telegraph gives the details. Will nations be willing to sign up to it and be under its jurisdiction? My guess is that the USA would not and neither would China or Russia.
This report explains that the economic downturn is taking precedence as the major concern of Pacific rim nations. Global warming is not even on the radar. Clearly it is a luxury concern which occupies the mind when there is nothing else to worry about.
Monday, 1 December 2008
Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor is determined to stick to the tough CO2 reduction targets in spite of the fact that she has been told that many jobs will be lost. This article explains her thinking. If the recession keeps going she may change her mind as the election gets nearer.
There are just 11 days to go before the poll closes. So far 991 votes have been cast and as you can see the result is not in doubt. The only question is - can votes beat the 1,000 barrier? A few weeks ago it didn't look too hopeful, but now it is very possible, so please cast your ballot if you have not already done so.
