This article gives the clearest description of the cherry-picking of tree-ring data by a leading climate scientist in the notorious Hockey-Stick temperature graph. This article exposes yet again the feebleness of the Inquiries into the ramifications of the exposed emails of the leading climate scientists, as the inquiries were supposed to look into any wrong-doing exposed by the emails. It is interesting to compare the current Leveson Inquiry into press behaviour and phone-hacking with the Inquiries into the leaked climate emails; the former is a robust and thorough examination given ample coverage in the news night after night, whereas the latter was a white-wash given minimal coverage.
