OCEAN TEMPERATURE INCREASES BY TENTHS OF A DEGREE

This piece from WUWT gives the facts about ocean warming and it isn't scary, in fact it is very small and it does not explain where the "missing heat" has gone to.

LORD LAWSON CONFRONTS SIR PAUL NURSE OVER DENIAL OF GW STANDSTILL

This letter from Lawson to Nurse who is the president of the Royal Society highlights the fact that Nurse seems unable to acknowledge the fact that global warming has been at a standstill for the past 16 years. This is something that all open-minded people will want to see done, not only by Nurse but by the government and others who have relentlessly pushed global warming as a major threat to mankind.

UK MEDIA DECLARES WAR ON "GREEN ENERGY"

1) Blackout Britain: EU Eco-Directive Puts Millions at Risk of Power Cuts - Sunday Express, 24 February 2013 2) Green Energy Bill May Drag Britain Into A New Dark Age - Mail on Sunday, 24 February 2013 3) Landowners ‘£1 Billion Wind Farm Boom’ - The Sunday Telegraph, 24 February 2013 4) Wind Farms Will Create More CO2, Say Scientists - The Sunday Telegraph, 24 February 2013 5) Christopher Booker: One day, turning off the lights won’t be up to you - The Sunday Telegraph, 24 February 2013 6) Neil Hamilton: Cameron’s Idiocy Will Put You In Dark, Cold Poverty - Sunday Express, 24 February 7) Clive James: Attenborough’s Global Warming Blunder - The Daily Telegraph, 23 February 2013 1) Blackout Britain: EU Eco-Directive Puts Millions at Risk of Power Cuts Sunday Express, 24 February 2013 One million homes narrowly escaped a power cut last month as bitterly cold weather placed a massive strain on Britain’s creaking electricity network. Sandbrook Office workers in London attempt to keep warm during the 1974 power cuts. Photograph: Evening Standard/Getty Images Shutdown was only avoided because a gas-fired station due to close by next winter came to the rescue. Last night experts warned that life-threatening blackouts are increasingly likely as “we head downhill – fast”… And as a spell of bitter cold once more hits the UK, the near switch-off which came so perilously close on that freezing afternoon, underscores the magnitude of the energy crisis. Fawley is one of a number of coal and oil power stations being forced into retirement to comply with EU environmental targets. [...] Ann Robinson, consumer champion at uSwitch, said: “We are facing disaster on energy prices. The dynamic has changed, but the thinking hasn’t. “What worries me most is that the average household energy bill will be £1,400 by end of the year; £1,500 is a cliff edge at which most people say they’ll switch off the heating entirely.” Full story 2) Green Energy Bill May Drag Britain Into A New Dark Age Mail on Sunday, 24 February 2013 Mr Yeo has moved an extraordinary amendment to the Energy Bill that would set a crippling and binding target for the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by generating power in 2030. It would transform the electricity industry and bring huge benefits to the business sector, which has so generously rewarded Mr Yeo. For the rest of us, however, the effects will be very different. It will cause already high energy bills to soar further and could lead to more power cuts. The effect on business is likely to be even more dramatic… ‘Even without the amendment, the long-term consequences of the Bill will be horrible,’ said Professor Gordon Hughes of Edinburgh University, one of Britain’s leading experts on energy economics. He issued a strong warning the ‘surreal’ amendment could spell the end of British industry. ‘It’s a recipe for deindustrialisation,’ he said. Prof Hughes thinks the choice is stark: ‘Either we get rid of this obsession, or we give away our future to the rest of the world. The question is whether we’re serious about our economic future or not.’

WIND FARMS CREATE MORE CO2 THAN THEY SAVE, SAYS GOVERNMENT REPORT

This report commissioned by the Scottish government would seem to deal a fatal blow to the policy of building wind farms in remote areas where they can destroy valuable peat bogs which are very powerful stores of CO2.

CLIMATE MODELS v OBSERVATION

Right at the heart of the global warming controversy is the difference between the predictions of the computer climate models and the actual measurements taken both on the ground and higher up in the troposphere by satellites. One of the most respected scientists on the sceptics side is Dr John Christy. Here he gives clear evidence to show that the models have been shown to be incorrect.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE KILLED BY CLIMATE CHANGE?

Of course there are always extreme weather events in the world that can be included in the term "climate change", but even that seems unlikely to give a figure of 300,000 deaths per year. Yet the is the figure cited in a book that is examined here. It seems there are no lengths that extremists will not go to further their cause, for that is what it is.

GERMAN PEOPLE AND INDUSTRY SUFFER AS COST OF ENERGY ESCALATES

This report gives the staggering cost to Germany of their planned switch to renewable energy. If carried through it could ruin their economy - an amazing thing for a government to do to its people, but then the UK is planning a similar thing.

"RECORD TEMPERATURES" BEING EXAGGERATED

Here is a report which looks at the way in which some weather bureaus are attenpting to fool the public by manipulating data.

CLIMATE MODELS STILL FAIL

Here is a good article looking at the inaccuracy of current computer climate models. The blog it is from is well worth reading and I have put a link to it on the list.

ANTARCTIC ICE BREAKS RECORD FOR JANUARY

Here's an interesting piece which looks at the Antarctic ice during its "warm" period. It seems that the ice is at record high levels for this time. Interesting!

BANK GOVERNOR BLAMES GREEN POLICIES FOR ECONOMIC WOE

This piece in the Telegraph reports the comments of Mervin King, strangely not mentioned on the TV news bulletins.

RECORD ARCTIC ICE INCREASE

I wonder why this has noy made it on to the TV news bulletins? Could it be that it does not quite fit the narrative of dangerous warming that we have constantly been told is "real" and "beyond doubt"?

BBC SENSORS DAVID ATTENBOROUGH

This report In the Telegraph explains how David Attenborough had said in the final episode of his series on Africa that temperatures in the continent had increased by 3.5C in the last 20 years. After complaints of exaggeration by various informed people, the statement was dropped when the programme was repeated.

JUST WHAT DOES "CLIMATE CHANGE" MEAN FOR OUR WEATHER?

Here is an interesting look at this. What Warmists would like to do is convince you that any extreme weather is "climate change", but serious scientists cannot bring themselves to make such a ridiculous assertion as the linked article shows.

NEW REPORT SAYS UK COULD HAVE ENOUGH SHALE GAS FOR 1000 YEARS

This article at GWPF gives the details. This should mean an end to wind farms, but I don't expect the government to change policy straight away as they are in too deep with the renewables.

GOOD NEWS FOR PACIFIC ISLANDS

Here is the good news that these islands are not sinking due to sea level rise, though I dare say their political leaders will want this kept quiet for obvious reasons.

DO FORESTS DRIVE OUR CLIMATE?

Here is a new scientific paper that is causing some controversy. It claims that the water vapour from forests causes the winds that drive the climate. It may or may not be correct, but what it does reveal is just how much scientists disagree on the basics of climate science. The science of climate is far from settled. We still have a huge amount to learn. That is what some scientists and politicians are afraid of admitting.

IS THE PRECAUTIONARY PRINCIPLE BEING OVER APPLIED?

This article from the Scientific Alliance explores this question through a document from the EU. On the one hand we do not want to take dangerous, unnecessary risks, but on the other hand we must not become so risk averse that we are afraid to take any risks at all. The precautionary principle is often cited as a reason to limit CO2 emissions, because even if we are not sure that they will cause dangerous global warming, there is a risk, however small. If that is the policy I argue that Los Angeles and San Francisco along with any other towns along the San Andreas Fault Line should be evacuated, but there is no plan to do it and most people seem prepared to take the risk.

GREENS AND COMMUNISTS

When Greens are conpared with the Communists you can see they have many things in common. One is a tendency to do one thing and advise others to do the opposite. A good example is seen here. Another is their desire for the state to run things and organise our lives. In short both movements are made up of idealists who do not seem to have learnt anything from experience of the past.
