US REPUBLICANS CHANGE STYLE OF ATTACK ON CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY

MP's ASK, " WHY IS THE PUBLIC BECOMING DISENGAGED WITH THE CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUE?"

This is the issue being looked at by the UK Parliament's Science and Technology Select Committee. Here is a link to a video of the Committee taking evidence from a group of concerned "experts" in engaging with the media. I must warn you that the session is about an hour long and not exactly riveting stuff, but if you have the dogged determination to view it, then like me, you may find it a kind of surreal experience. None of the speakers or the MP's gave any hint that they might be sceptical of any aspect of the climate debate, even though at least one does have some. What was discussed was what was "going wrong" with the way climate science is being reported and how can we make sure that people have a "better" understanding. The problem for these politicians is that most of them seem to have been brain-washed and are unable to take a step back and look objectively at the issue. They need to engage with the sceptics and only then would they learn that what is wrong with their "message" is that it is inaccurate and out of date.

THE GREEN JOB MYTH

This piece highlights the oft repeated claim that if only we follow the renewable energy path we will create many thousands of "green jobs". Clearly as the article shows, this is a pipe dream which has not become a reality. The only way to create jobs is to compete by having cheap energy by using your assets like natural gas. We must get fracking and fast.

IS NATURAL GAS ALWAYS A FOSSIL FUEL?

Here is a post by Matt Ridley which examines a hypothesis that some natural gas is made from other things than organic matter. Matt discusses the importance of this in the article. Yet another thing that we aren't certain of in the debate over which energy is truly renewable.

BOOKLET SHOWS WHY FOSSIL FUELS ARE GOOD

It is now so common to hear of "dirty coal" that most people simply accept that it is true without even stopping to question it. I recently came across an excellent booklet via Donna Laframboise's excellent website that contains many under-used arguments that seem to have been forgotten in all the fashionable denunciation of fossil fuels. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84424264/Fossil%20Fuels%20Improve%20the%20Planet.pdf>Here

YESTERDAY'S POST ON THE STATISTICS OF GLOBAL TEMPERATURES SIMPLY EXPLAINED

Here is the post. The Met Office are, naturally, trying to play down the significance of this, but statistics is a branch of mathematics and even if they claim that other evidence is more important, the Met Office must accept the mathematical calculations in an objective way. The fact is that the statistical model they have chosen to use is up to one thousand times less reliable than a random model. How can that be a scientific choice?
