This site is a reference point for those with a cool head for climate science, arguably the most political science ever. When the government and most of the media concentrate on alarmism, this site is the antidote for those who don't believe the scare stories - YOU ARE NOT ALONE! (blog started on 7/11/07) We have over 2 million hits and blog is updated regularly most weeks.

POLES WILL VETO ANY LAW TO STOP FRACKING
This article gives the details on this. Clearly there is going to be a huge amount of argument in the EU on this matter.

IS THE EU GOING TO TRY AND STOP SHALE GAS?
This piece looks at the way the REACH chemical directive could be used to delay fracking operations to recover shale gas. Here in the UK the government would no doubt be only too glad to delay it, and then blame the EU.

THE SHALE GAS REVOLUTION
Here is what the recent shale gas discovery will mean if it is followed, as expected, by further discoveries in other parts of the country and in the North Sea. We could have a bright future with plenty of low-priced energy, provided the government makes the right decision.

HOW THE WWF INFILTRATED THE IPCC
This article looks at the way the WWF with its massive wealth has courted the IPCC scientists in a shameless attempt to use them to create propaganda in favour of urgent action to lower CO2 emissions.

LEADING PHYSICIST RESIGNS FROM APS OVER GW POLICY
This article explains how a Nobel prize-winning scientist has resigned from the American Physical Society over their policy on global warming.

GLOBAL CARBON TAX PROPOSED
This article from australia gives the details. I would bet that, regardless of the outcome of the scientific debate, once such a tax were put in place it would never be removed. There is no limit to the amount of tax these transnational bodies will consume.

COMPARATIVE COSTS OF WIND ENERGY V NUCLEAR AND GAS
This article looks at the true comparison between the different forms of generation taking account of all the various factors such as connection to the grid and lifetime maintenance costs. These are the figures the government are keen to leave out of the public eye.

UK SHALE GAS REVOLUTION COMES A STEP NEARER
Here is the good news the UK has been waiting for, unless you are one of those who still believe that our priority should still be meeting the CO2 reduction targets set by the Climate Change Act. Let's put it this way - should the UK risk wrecking its ecomomy in order to meet some arbitrary target on CO2 reduction while the rest of the world continues to ignore us, or should we welcome the opportunity to provide cheap energy to our citizens and industry? Only Energy and Climate Change Minister, Chris Huhne, would have a problem with the answer to that! Further info here.

THE BATTLE OVER ETS RAGES ON IN OZ
Whatever the "consensus" over emissions reduction in the UK, there is a fierce battle going on in other parts of the Western world such as in Australia. While in the UK the opposition is apparently very weak it is far from the case in other Western democracies such as the USA.

UK MINISTER TO STOP NEW GAS POWER TO KEEP CO2 TARGET
This article looks at the remarks of UK Energy and Climate Change Minister, Chris Huhne, concerning the large number of gas power plants being built by the privatised UK power companies. He says he is going to restrict the future building in order to try to meet the CO2 reductions enshrined in law in the Climate Change Act. I doubt the voters will share his priorities.

IPCC COMPUTER MODELS COMPLETELY WRONG ON EAST AFRICA WEATHER
This article shows up yet another flaw in the IPCC prediction ability. Extraordinarily the computer prediction for the area including Somalia and Biafra was of increasing rainfall. Sadly the reality is that the drought conditions are continuing.

USA DELAYS EMISSION REGULATIONS INDEFINITELY
This article on the GWPF website explains that for a second time the USA Environment Protection Agency has delayed implementing their strict control on CO2 emissions. This time they have not set a new date, which makes some think that the delay may be long term. With the USA economy growing as little as ours in the UK and elections set for next year, it must be the last thing Obama needs - something guaranteed to slow the economy further and cost jobs.

UK GOVERNMENT CLIMATE POLICY TO ADD £500 TO FUEL BILLS WITHIN 4 YEARS
This article summarises the research by the Institute of Economic Affairs. This is the latest in a series of articles, each one suggesting a bigger and quicker rise in our fuel bills, yet the government still seems immune to the alarm bells, preferring to believe their own simplistic prediction that everyone will insulate and cut their consumption of energy.

WIND FARM CASHBACK AS THEY THREATEN TO OVERLOAD GRID
This piece gives details of compensation payments to a number of wind farms that had to be disconnected from the grid when the recent high winds occurred in Scotland to prevent overloading of the grid.

COSMIC RAYS AND CLIMATE
Here is an excellent film showing how Henrik Svensmark developed his theory on how cosmic rays control our climate. It is a remarkable story of how a small group of scientists had to overcome the opposition of others who did not wish to see any other theory challenge the idea of CO2 being the dominant force in climate. Watch it and judge for yourself which makes the most sense.

COUNCIL MOTION PASSED BY ENVIRONMENT PANEL
I am delighted to report that my motion to the New Forest District Council was passed today by the council's Environment Overview and Scrutiny Panel. The motion was:
"It is widely known that energy bills have been rising at rates well above inflation in the past few years and that this is already adversely affecting businesses and causing financial hardship to many people throughout the country on low incomes, including residents of this district.
"In light of this I propose that the Council should write to the government, urging it not to make commitments to reduce carbon dioxide emissions further or faster than other major industrial nations, as such a unilateral commitment would add further increases to UK energy prices causing increasing hardship."
I am not claiming that this will make the government change tack, but it is a small step and it is small steps that may dent the political consensus here. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the majority which was seven votes in favour with just one against and one abstention. The motion will now come back to the full council for approval. I will let readers know the final outcome in due course.

NEW SURVEY - BRITONS THE MOST SCEPTICAL ON GW
Here is a link to the results of the new survey. It is both surprising and heartening to find that UK citizens are more sceptical of the CO2 global warming hypothesis. Surprising because there is virtually no political opposition here to the government's climate change agenda, and we are subjected to relentless propaganda from the BBC and ITV as well as most radio stations and much of the press. The weather here has not helped the suggestion of 'warming' with yet another below average summer, so maybe that, combined with the last three colder winters is enough to cause doubt. What this does show is just how fragile public opinion is on this.

CALL TO SCRAP CARBON PRICE
This piece gives the details of the problems the financial penalties will have on UK businesses - more onerous than any in the EU. Hardly a way of re-balancing the economy!

A DECREASE IN RATE OF SEA LEVEL RISE
This article looks at the data which clearly shows a slowing of the rate of rise, contrary to a number of pronouncements made by alarmists.

THE MYTH OF GREEN JOBS
This report by the GWPF looks at the false premise that reducing carbon emissions will lead to the creation of green jobs. To sum up, we can say that reducing CO2 emissions will cost a lot of money, lose us manufacturing jobs, certainly have no effect on the climate, and not even create so-called green jobs. A lose-lose scenario!

EDITOR OF SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL FORCED TO RESIGN AFTER PUBLISHING CLIMATE SCEPTIC PAPER
Here are the details in Watts Up With That blog. It seems that the scientific climate alarmists are determined to undermine any scientist who dares to publish a paper criticising the orthodox view that man is the main cause of global warming. There is, however a big problem that they are facing, which is that we are not seeing any global warming to support their view - we may even be seeing the opposite. Read Roy Spencer's views here.
Here is a good article on the Spencer/Braswell paper which explains why alarmists are so desparate to discredit it. This article gives further damaging detail of the Trenberth-Wagner connection.

CLIMATE DEBATE REACHING A CLIMAX BETWEEN LEADING SCIENTISTS
An almighty row has broken out between leading scientists over a vital new paper which, if correct, would blow a hole below the water-line in the current CO2 led global warming hypothesis. This article looks at the leading figures and assesses the merits of each case. To me it looks, from this, as though the scientific arguments against the CO2 hypothesis are gaining strength. Clearly those who have invested a lot of their reputation, and even some capital, will not give up easily.

LONDON OLYMPICS DROPS CARBON OFF-SET PLAN
This report looks at the reason for this change of plan. It is another example of where ambition has outstripped logic and reason. It is what I expect the nation will be doing when it realises the cost and the folly of eliminating carbon emissions from its life.
