 We might as well get used to high electricity costs, because the government has just accepted the inevitable and raised the price for the next auction round. This was obvious as there were zero bids in the last one. High electricity prices means that everything which depends on electricity, which will be heating, cooking, transport and anything which requires the use of machinery will also be going up in price.

The new "command economy" that is rapidly replacing the free market in order to try and reach net zero emissions is causing all sorts of problems.

The more that government interferes in the free market the worse things will get. When governments fine companies there is only one place that money can come from and that is the pockets of customers. Motoring is already becoming beyond the reach of many due to the exorbitant cost of insurance on top of fuel, road tax repairs etc. That is probably what many in government want, but people will soon join the dots and realise that much of it is due to the Net Zero policy.

GAS BOILERS - WHAT IS THEIR FUTURE IN THE UK?

There is a lot of concern about what to do about home heating here in the UK. There is an obsession with reaching the magical net zero by 2050 at all costs and to do so would require all home heating to be by electricity, or by using hydrogen gas. METHANE'S CONTRIBUTION TO GLOBAL WARMING EXPLAINED

I came across this very interesting short video which explained how our climate has changed naturally over the past million years or so. It also highlighted a recent increase in methane levels which cannot be explained by our use of fossil fuels.

This is yet more evidence that shows how much more we have to learn about the Earth's climate and how it evolves naturally. Yes we have some influence, but nature is much more powerful than we are. Hence we must learn to adapt.

CARBON CAPTURE IS UNECONOMIC

 

Carbon, or more accurately CO2 can be captured from exhaust gases coming from power stations or industrial processes and then pumped underground into porous rock. 

In the UK, it is envisaged that the CO₂ will be pumped into defunct oil or gas fields in the North Sea. Hence, instead of accumulating in the atmosphere, it is disposed of underground. The trouble with CCS is that it consumes a lot of resources, is therefore expensive (cost largely unknown) and provides no tangible benefit for those who have to pay for it, that is us.

THE BIG PROBLEM FOR NET ZERO - DUNKELFLAUTE

In a Net Zero world, what will we do when the wind isn’t blowing? Environmentalists like to point out that we will have solar power as well, but of course the sun doesn’t shine at night, so windless nights are a big problem.

Next, it is suggested that we can store electricity. But in winter we frequently get long wind lulls, and with the sun low in the sky, there will be little or no solar power either. These so-called “dunkelflautes” mean little or no electricity supply from the renewables fleet. Read it all here:
