HYDROGEN BUSES, BUT NO HYDROGEN

A fleet of 20 hydrogen-fuelled buses - half of which have never been used - will be converted to battery power after the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) said there was not enough hydrogen to run them.

CLIMATE MODELS V OBSERVATIONS

Climate models suggest that the strongest warming response the climate system has to increasing anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (mainly CO2 from fossil fuel burning) is in the tropical upper troposphere. This produces the model-anticipated “tropical hotspot".  The tropical upper troposphere has the largest temperature response in climate models (up to 0.5 deg. C per decade).

But in the real world of observations this hotspot does not exist as can be seen from the article below:

CANADIAN CLIMATE DATA FOUND TO BE HOPELESSLY UNRELIABLE

Read this article and see just how poor the data underlying the world climate/global warming scare is. If a school student handed in such shoddy work they would be given a detention, but here we are looking at work upon which trillions of dollars are being spent on policies which are causing great inconvenience to millions of people. Yet we hear not a word from the main media.

GERMANS TO BUILD NEW GAS POWER STATIONS

Facing industrial death, Germany has finally decided it needs dispatchable reliable electricity. But they can’t announce that they suddenly need to build 10 gigawatts of fossil fueled gas power plants. It would be like admitting the sacred Energiewende had been a ghastly mistake that wasted billions of dollars.

THE HEAT BENEATH OUR FEET

At last some good news:

Scientists have identified a significant geothermal energy source deep beneath the University of Manchester, with the potential to deliver large-scale clean power to the city, reports Energy Live News.

CLIMATE CRISIS - WHAT CRISIS?

For decades, activists have anchored their case in dramatic warnings about species extinction, melting ice caps and the end of polar life, failing ecosystems and vanishing biodiversity. But what is the actual evidence telling us now?

COST OF NET ZERO - ANY ADVANCE ON £7 TRILLION?

Yes, the latest estimate by the well-respected IEA (Institute of Economic Affairs) explains why it is likely to cost the UK economy £7 trillion by 2050 - a big increase on the previous £4.5 trillion. When will this madness end?

UK GRID HEADING FOR TIPPING POINT

Across heating, transport and industry in the UK, electrification targets rely on a similar set of assumptions: that consumers will change behaviour rapidly, that costs will fall quickly and predictably, and that electricity infrastructure will expand smoothly to accommodate new demand. The report tests these assumptions sector by sector and finds them wanting.

OIL THE "STRANDED ASSET" THAT EVERYONE WANTS

When President Trump sad he wanted Greenland, it wasn't because he wanted to cover it with wind turbines or solar panels. Greenland has billions of barrels of that stranded asset, oil, as well as other minerals needed for computers etc.

NET ZERO COSTS NOW £4.5 TRILLION

That is for just the UK!

The staggering cost of Ed Miliband's Net Zero drive finally revealed: £4.5 TRILLION... that's more than the UK's entire GDP | Daily Mail Online

Critics said the extraordinary mounting costs for measures such as wind farms, solar panels, green heating systems and upgrades to roads and railways are significantly higher than previous forecasts and could 'bankrupt' the economy.

The figures, quietly published last month by the National Energy System Operator (NESO) – a Government quango responsible for Britain's energy systems – includes an estimated £585 billion to be forked out by ordinary households to pay for the move away from energy–guzzling boilers towards eco–friendly heat pumps.

REDUCING FOSSIL FUEL USE - "THE GREATEST MALINVESTMENT IN HUMAN HISTORY"

Chris Wright, the United States Secretary of Energy in an interview on USA TV explains why reducing fossil fuel use is counter-productive and futile. A really amazing interview in which he says things that many believe, but no one in his position would dare to have said just a few years ago. A truly remarkable turn of events.

PROOF THAT GREENLAND WAS WARMER JUST 7000 YEARS AGO

The first study from GreenDrill—a project co-led by the University at Buffalo to collect rocks and sediment buried beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet—has found that the Prudhoe Dome ice cap was completely gone approximately 7,000 years ago, much more recently than previously known, says Phys.org.  When sediment is buried, electrons can become trapped inside its tiny mineral grains due to natural radiation and remain there until the sediment is exposed to light again, at which point they produce a measurable glow.

FOSSIL FUELS JOIN THE PANTOMIME SEASON

Some claim they are "stranded assets" - oh no they're not! The linked article looks at what AI has to say about whether fossil fuels will be stranded assets in light of the massive growth in data centres. The answer from AI is NO.

BUG FOOD BUSINESS GOES BUST

"Go woke - go broke" is a saying that is often quoted these days. It seems very apt in this case relating to a French company called Ynsect. The company made some very bad decisions and found themselves struggling with high energy costs making their products too expensive. They discovered that price was the deciding factor for animal feed, rather than saving the planet. This is something the Government will discover.

EXTREME WEATHER DEATHS DOWN TO NEW LOW!

I bring you good news to cheer as we enter the New Year. I wonder why this is not being celebrated in the mainstream media.

Here at THB we are ending 2025 with some incredibly good news that you might not hear about anywhere else — Globally, 2025 has had one of the lowest annual death ratesa from disasters associated with extreme weather events in recorded history.1

THE EU NET ZERO DELUSION - DEAD ON ARRIVAL

Germany itself is now acknowledging the limits of its model. Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced plans to build 71 gas-fired power plants by 2035 to secure backup during recurring wind and solar droughts.

Based on IPCC formulas, IREF deduces that for Europe, reaching net zero in 2100 rather than 2050 would alter global temperatures by only 0.02 to 0.06°C. Read it all here:

GEO-ENGINEERING - IS IT A HELP OR A DANGER?

Geo-engineering involves some way of blocking out some sunlight from reaching the Earth's surface to cool it. The problem is that the nations of the world might not agree whether they want it cooled, or by how much. And how can the people carrying out the research know how effective (or not) their methods will be. People are, rightly, worried about these experiments.

Natural changes can be harmful, but there is little we can do about nature. Instead we have to adapt as best we can. If you read the article linked you can see there are businesses hoping that other companies will pay them to offset their CO2 emissions. The whole climate obsession is leading to a labyrinth of obscure ways to "cure" global warming.

GRID SCALE BATTERY FIRES GO UNREPORTED

"The big problem was that these facilities were subject to large and dangerous fires on a regular basis. In some cases the same facility would catch fire multiple times. That post reported on major fires in California at a site called Valley Center in San Diego County in September 2023, and at another one called Moss Landing south of San Francisco in September 2022. In January 2025, the Moss Landing facility had another major fire. From the EPA website:

On January 16, 2025, the Moss Landing 300 battery energy storage system at the Moss Landing Vistra power plant (Monterey County, Calif.) caught fire."
