This site is a reference point for those with a cool head for climate science, arguably the most political science ever. When the government and most of the media concentrate on alarmism, this site is the antidote for those who don't believe the scare stories - YOU ARE NOT ALONE! (blog started on 7/11/07) We have over 2 million hits and blog is updated regularly most weeks.

OBAMA TO WRECK US IN VAIN ATTEMPT TO CONTROL CLIMATE
Christopher Booker's column in the Sunday Telegraph discusses the belief of Obama in relation to global warming, or climate change, and the measures he is proposing to take. Though, as others have pointed out the present economic woes may cause him to put his climate policy on the back-burner.
COST OF REDUCING EMISSIONS GOES ON RISING (ALONG WITH EMISSIONS)
This report explains the spiralling estimates of reducing CO2 emissions. £200 billion a year seems quite a lot, especially when we're all paying for it. This is the true cost of "global warming".
POLAND AT ODDS WITH EU OVER CLIMATE PLAN
This article gives the details. If the EU cannot agree among themselves, what chance is there of an international agreement. You can bet on it being a fudge with winners and losers. The weakest leaders giving in to those that make the most difficulties. No doubt the UK will roll over and get walked over! After all we have already agreed unilaterally to go for 80% cuts by 2050 - we might as well go the whole hog and make it 100%.

WIND FARMS BLOWN OFF COURSE BY ECONOMIC TURMOIL
This report explains the situation in more detail. Economic reality is overtaking windy idealism.

MASSIVE INCREASE IN COAL MINING IN THE UK PROPOSED
This report in the Guardian explains the facts. Clearly there is a contradiction between the targets in the Climate Change Bill and the reality on the ground. Sooner rather than later reality will dawn on our government - you can't keep the lights on and drastically reduce CO2.
LONDON CONGESTION CHARGE EXTENSION SCRAPPED
This report reveals that Londoners have rejected in a vote the extension of the congestion charge. Mayor, Boris Johnson, has listened to the people, much to the annoyance of the Greens.

BEWARE THE ENVIRONMENTAL TALIBAN
The 3 photos above all show a so-called "eco-activist" throwing a custard pie in the face of someone they disagree with. (1) is a US negotiator at a climate conference, (2) is Bjorn Lomborg at the launch of his book "The Skeptical Environmentalist" and (3) is a CEO from the coal industry. What they show is how intolerant these "activists" are of any opinion that differs from their's. Without a rational discussion such people can never reach any considered opinion. They are really terrorists and it will not be long before they go beyond custard pies and things take a much more sinister turn.
ITALY TO VETO EU CLIMATE TARGETS
This article explains why the Italian government are determined to demand exemptions from the climate change measures being proposed, as they would seriously damage the Italian economy. I bet a few others are thinking the same.
NZ GOVERNMENT TO REVIEW GW EVIDENCE
This report in the New Zealand Herald explains the new government's policy. One of the coalition partners, Act, has released its preferred terms, which include going back to basics and hearing "competing views on the scientific aspects of climate change from internationally respected sources". Now that is a positive approach. I only hope that other governments follow suit.

CAN OUR POLL REACH 1,000 VOTES?
With only a few days to go the blog's poll is so close to the 1,000 votes target. Please vote if you have not done so already.
EU CO2 STRATEGY FALLING APART
This article tells the story of how the Germans are demanding exemptions for their heavy industry. This should finally sink the EU's attempts to lead the world on cutting CO2 emissions. It's difficult to see how the world can reach agreement if even the EU nations cannot agree.

GW - A POLITICAL PERSPECTIVE
Here is a very thought provoking article in the American Thinker which looks at the politics behing the global warming scare. Do the left want to use global warming to get rid of capitalism and democracy? This article looks beneath the surface to try and see what could be at stake.

KYOTO DISASTER LOOMS
Most of the nations which signed up to Kyoto will fail to have cut emissions by 2012, according to this report. Even worse, their emissions will have increased and they will have to pay billions of dollars in compensation, proving it is much easier to make grand promises than to keep them. PM Brown - take note!
ICE AGE NOW WEBSITE
This interesting website has a lot of information about the climate and in particular glaciers. Well worth a visit.

TASMANIAN PREMIER SPELLS OUT TRUE COST OF EMISSIONS TRADING
This article explains how the drive to cut CO2 emissions is destroying industry and costing jobs, just as predicted. Governments that persist with this kind of legislation will soon find the backlash at the ballot box.

HOUSE OF LORDS DEBATE CLIMATE BILL
This article gives the details including the wise words of Nigel Lawson, the former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, and well known climate realist. If only more would speak out for common sense.
INDIA RULES OUT GLOBAL CO2 COMMITMENT
This article explains the Indians view, which would seem to rule out any likelyhood of CO2 levels falling, since without India no doubt China and Brazil would adopt the same stance. Anything the West did would only slow the increase, and make their economies uncompetitive compared with the developing countries. All pain with no gain.

NZ VOTERS DITCH LABOUR
After 9 years in power Helen Clark's Labour Party has just lost a general election to the conservative Nationalist Party. One of the policies of the Nationalists was to slow down the cuts to carbon emissions, whereas Clark wanted to make the country "carbon neutral" by 2012. You can read more about the background to the election here, and the result itself here.
Both New Zealand and Canada have voted against parties who have pledged rapid and costly carbon reduction policies. I hope this fact has not gone entirely un-noticed in other western democracies.

EU CLIMATE CONSENSUS FALLING APART
This article explains that several countries including some from eastern Europe fear the new climte change regulations will lead to industrial meltdown. Reality hits home - but when will Brown start to realise that the UK will also suffer?
OBAMA TO PUT CO2 CUTS ON HOLD
This report from the USA explains that the economic problems are likely to take precedence over any attempts to cut CO2 emissions. At least there's some sense come out of the economic chaos.

HANSEN'S FREEZING HEAT
Christopher Booker's recent column explains the extraordinary data error made by James Hansen's climate data recording team. If such basic errors with data can be made, how can we trust the rest of the records? It's hard to believe that if the data had recorded record cooling they would not have carried out detailed checks before publishing it.
DECEIT BY THE IPCC CHAIRMAN
This article explains the latest deceit being put about that attempts to turn the scientific record on its head. When lies are added to propaganda it shows the arguments are threadbare.

CHINESE SAY - GIVE US THE MONEY!
This report gives us a hint of what the Chinese government are hoping to gain from the climate change negotiations. Will Obama fall for it? - "Yes he can." - Though a lot of Americans may not like it.

THIS BLOG IS 6 ON GOOGLE
Type "climate science" into the search engine Google and this site comes up at number SIX on the first page. I don't know why it does, but it may reflect that this site is being posted on a lot of other sites. If you think this blog is a useful source of news and information then please recommend it to others and post our web address on other sites (climatescience.blogspot.com). I notice that the number one site is "realclimate", which is clearly an alarmist site. If this site is going to achieve number one then we still have a lot of work to do! My goal for the second year of this blog is to get closer to number 1, so visitors spread the word please!
SEA LEVEL CONTROVERSY IN MALDIVES
This story in the Telegraph explains how the new President of the Maldives is worried about the sea level rise forecast by climate alarmists. This seems completely at odds with the scientific research carried out on the islands and documented in the excellent video "Global Warming - Doomsday Called Off" (to find the section about the Maldives go to about 28-30 minutes in) where sea levels have been found to have fallen. It seems astonishing that the President should believe alarmists over the actual evidence on the shore.

KIDS TARGETED IN GREENPEACE CARTOON
A few days ago I came across a Greenpeace propaganda film using John F. Kennedy's image. Now I have been sent a cartoon portraying the evil "coalfinger" and his coal power station emissions being tackled by the Greenpeace good guys. You can see the huge propaganda effort to win over the public. The "coalfinger" cartoon, I am reliably informed would have cost in the region of £250,000 to make. Alarmists often talk about the massive "big oil" lobby against them, but when all the government funding is handed out to these NGO's it is they who are the well-funded lobby, while the sceptics "big oil" money is just a myth.

EU CARBON TRADING SCHEME COLLAPSING
This report explains how the recent economic downturn has led to a crash in the price of carbon, meaning the whole scheme is useless in reducing CO2 output. What a farce!

BP PULLS OUT OF UK WIND FARMS
This report explains that BP is now concentrating its wind farm projects in the US where there are bigger subsidies to be had. The poor US taxpayer is being taken for a bigger ride even than us here in the UK. That is the only crumb of comfort in this whole sorry saga, if indeed there is any comfort in this utter lunacy that is gripping our leaders. No doubt Brown will soon have to increase his subsidies in order to meet his obligations to his EU colleagues.

COUNCIL CANDIDATE OFFERS SCEPTIC MANIFESTO
Here is the manifesto of an Australian council candidate standing for election in Melbourne at the end of this month. I wish him the best of luck with his campaign. He is right to highlight the issue, but will the public be persuaded?

ROLL OF HONOUR
Having just been given a copy of Hansard including the recent debate on the UK Climate Change Bill Third Reading I thought I ought to pay tribute to the small band of MPs who defied the whips and voted against this monstrous attack on our nation. The vote was 463 in favour and 3 against. Each side has 2 tellers so I will include the two as they also supported the opposition. There are 646 MPs and so as only 470 voted, another 176 thought it not worth opposing, or some might have thought it a lost cause to fight against it. Of course the "whipping" system was used to persuade any ditherers to support the party line, so there are no doubt some (maybe many) who do not agree with the bill, but voted for it in order to safeguard their job on the front benches - that is how parliament works.
If the sceptics are eventually proved to be correct and temperatures do not continue to rise in line with predictions by alarmists, then the 641 MPs who did not vote against it will be seen to have failed in their duty to look after the interests of the people. In the mean time the measures that they approved will lead to considerable cost increases in almost everything that we purchase. All for nothing.
Those voting for common sense were CHRISTOPHER CHOPE (Conservative)
PETER LILLEY (Conservative)
ANDREW TYRIE (Conservative)
ANN WIDDECOMBE (Conservative)
PHILIP DAVIES (Conservative)

FIDDLING WITH THE DATA?
Is there something dishonest going on at the heart of the climate science world? It is difficult to know who to believe when trying to unravel all the statistics quoted on this subject, but this article shows what appears to be a blatant fiddle of the actual temperature records. It seems quite extraordinary to see, but the two graphs shown in the article seem quite clear. It is the scientific equivalent of getting caught with your hand in the till. We must have honesty in gathering the temperature record.

REAL CLIMATE TRUMPS WARMING
This report from EU Referendum Blog and this one tells of unusually cold weather at various places across the world. If this continues people will soon tire of global warming and their desire for carbon taxes will melt away quicker than a summer snow storm.

COSMIC RAYS, CLOUDS & CLIMATE
If CO2 is not driving our climate, then what does? This is the question that scientists with truly open minds are looking at, and this article by Jennifer Marohasy looks at one possible line of research. Anyone who thinks they are 90% confident that they understand our climate is suffering from serious over-confidence.

AUSSIES DEBATE CLIMATE BILL
At least in Australia they have a debate on the subject, as this report shows. In the EU there seems to be no opposition, or rather the opposition is effectively marginalised and silenced at government level.

THE HIGH PRICE OF BEING A SCEPTIC
This article in the Daily Express by former TV presenter David Bellamy shows the high price paid by anyone who dares to challenge the "orthodox" view on CO2 causing climate change. His TV career has been finished - and that is the sort of pressure that those who disagree are under.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS BLOG
Today I celebrate a whole year of information on this blog. Since I began, the evidence for the CO2 theory has been found to be very thin indeed. The climate computer models have been proved to be incorrect as no significant warming has occurred in the troposphere and even the warming itself has ceased for nearly a decade. Meanwhile governments are continuing to plan ever more elaborate schemes to tax carbon emissions from all of us. The battle for hearts and minds is far from over.

EU INDUSTRY HITS OUT AT CARBON TRADING SCHEME
This report gives the details. So much pain and for no gain at all seems to be what the government is heading for - that is if they don't abandon this madness.

CLIMATE SCEPTIC CENSORED?
This article reports on a very worrying situation regarding a leading scientist with sceptical views on the CO2 theory being effectively censored. It is the censorship of alternative scientific theories that is of great concern here. Do we have a modern equivalent of the Spanish inquisition (though happily without the torture)?

SCIENTIFIC CONFUSION ABOUT ROLE OF TREES
Do trees keep the planet cool, or do they warm it up? I'm sure most people would say that the answer is obvious, but scientists are not so sure. Take a look at this article which suggests they do keep us cool, and then contrast it with this one by a different group of scientists which suggests the opposite.
This is an example of the way science works with lots of different research reaching apparently contradictory conclusions. On the question of the role of CO2, however, only one conclusion seems to be acceptable.

CLIMATE SCIENCE POLL COMING TO A CLOSE
I hope all visitors will take part in our poll (on the right hand side). So far there are over 900 votes and the result seems very clear. However with about 40 days to go I would like to see it break the magic 1000 barrier. So, if you haven't yet taken part do register your opinion. From my experience of talking to groups of people the results so far do accurately reflect the views of the public.

COMMONS WAFFLES WHILE SNOW FALLS
This report shows how our MPs waffled for hours on how they were going to "save the planet" from catastrophic global warming, while outside temperatures plunged causing the first October snow for 70 years. Just as we need a plentiful supply of cheap energy to keep warm they are planning to land us with massive extra costs in order to rid us of CO2 - or 80% of it by 2050; meanwhile over in China and India they are ready to build new coal-fired power stations ready to take our jobs and our industry.
