Here is a follow-up to my previous post on the life-time of CO2 in the atmosphere, otherwise known as residence time. The link below is to a paper on the subject which demonstrates that this time is not decades, or hundreds of years, which is required for the man-made CO2 to be considered a major cause of warming. This finding accords with common sense, as CO2 is quite soluble in water and so it makes sense that much of it would be likely to get washed out in rain.

DOES MAN MADE CO2 HAVE SPECIAL PROPERTIES?
I have not read that some scientists believe that "man made" CO2 has a longer atmospheric life-time than other CO2 until this report referenced it.
New Study Rebuts The Assumption That Anthropogenic CO2 Molecules Have ‘Special’ Properties
As a scientist myself I do not believe there is any evidence that any CO2 molecules have different physical properties from any others. I have read that some believe that the life-time of CO2 from any source in the atmosphere is much longer than the 4 years that was previously accepted. The arguments for the longer time is not convincing to me.

THE MAN WHO EXPOSED THE DECEIT OF THE UK MET OFFICE
Here is a great interview with Ray Sanders, the intrepid amateur researcher who single-handedly has exposed the rotten practices of the UK Met Office. I have just discovered that Ray is taking a well-earned rest from his almost daily reports on the shortcomings of the UK temperature stations. As he held back the curtain on the deceitful behaviour, he has come up against a determined cover-up by the establishment, denying him any information on the grounds that he was "vexatious", simply for asking them to produce the evidence for their data.

DUTCH MET OFFICE FORCED TO REINSTATE PRE-1950 HEATWAVES
This is a victory for a small group of climate sceptic scientists over a large organisation. It took a lot of research and painstaking work to produce the evidence that they were right. Congratulations to these dogged campaigning scientists who refused to give up.

COMMON SENSE CHALLENGES GREEN DOGMA
For too long there appears to have been a lack of common sense on energy policy in Europe, but it appears to be coming to an end as some politicians realise that wind and solar cannot provide the reliable supply that a modern industrial country needs. Those that don't, may soon be kicked out of office.

GERMAN GAS CRISIS DEEPENS
One Reason Only For Germany’s Heating Gas Crisis: Its Hardcore-Dumbass Energy Policy
According to the online “Initiative Energien Speichern (INES) site here, the natural gas storage level is currently down to a measly 32.7%. Experts warn that the critical level of 20%, a point where pressures become too low to ensure adequate supply, will be reached in as little as 3 weeks.

LABOUR OPENS DOOR TO 'STALINIST' 15 MINUTE CITIES ACROSS UK
Lucky I don't live in Oxford!
By Camilla Turner, The Telegraph UK
The most high-profile example of such a plan is in Oxford, where the council put forward proposals to divide the city into six “15-minute neighbourhoods”.
Under the scheme, drivers would need a residents’ permit that allows 100 days of free travel per year through six traffic filters during operating hours.
Meanwhile, a separate permit allows 25 days of free travel per year through six congestion charge locations during charging hours, and after this, drivers face fines if they travel without the relevant permission.
Greg Smith, shadow transport minister, said: “This is the blueprint for a national rollout. Labour has given the green light for draconian councils like Oxfordshire to police how people live, move and drive, using cameras and fines backed by DVLA data.

LATEST UK STORM EXAGGERATED BY MET OFFICE
News outlets have always tended to exaggerate to make the news sound more exciting. But there seems to be a second motivation when it comes to climate which is to back up an ideology of global warming leading to a changed climate. Here is the latest example:

AUSTRALIANS ARE HAVING A HEATWAVE, BUT HOW DOES IT COMPARE WITH THE PAST?
The media often report on current heatwaves, adding how they "prove" that the world is rapidly heating up. But they seem very reluctant to tell us about past heatwaves, which are often deleted from the records. This article looks at how the past facts in Australia seem to have been conveniently "forgotten".

ANOTHER SENIOR INDUSTRY LEADER SAYS NET ZERO IS CAUSING INDUSTRIAL COLLAPSE
So many of our leading industrialists are now coming out to tell us of impending industrial collapse as a result of ideological adherence to decarbonisation policies. As evidence of this becomes clearer, how much longer can the UK government keep going in this direction before realising that it is killing any hope of getting re-elected?

EXTINCTION OF SPECIES - NEW STUDY
Here's something you would not expect to read in an article in the proceedings of the Royal Society:
Extinction rates have increased over the last five centuries, but generally declined in the last 100 years.
Finally, we examined extinction rates in the last approximately 100 years (1900s−2010s; figure 2b). No groups showed a significant, positive relationship between rates and decades (electronic supplementary material, table S6), as predicted if extinction rates were accelerating towards the present. Many groups showed a non-significant, negative relationship, including all species combined, animals, tetrapods, birds and mammals. These negative relationships were significant in arthropods (r2 = 0.58; p = 0.0038; n = 12) and plants (r2 = 0.44; p = 0.0196; n = 12). Overall, these results do not suggest that documented extinctions have been accelerating in recent decades, but instead have declined in the largest group of animals and in plants.
This does not appear to confirm that there is an extinction crisis.

THE CLIMATE DEBATE HAS REACHED A TIPPING POINT
Nearly 100 UK newspaper editorials voiced opposition to climate action in 2025 – more than double the number of editorials that backed climate action.
Over the past year, the Conservative party has rejected both the “net-zero by 2050” target that it legislated for in 2019 and the underpinning Climate Change Act that it had a major role in creating. Meanwhile, the Reform UK party has been rising in the polls, while pledging to “ditch net-zero”.
It is worth noting that the Conservative Party only won the 2019 election with such a good majority because the Brexit Party (now the Reform Party) stood their candidates down. Had they stood, that election would probably have been much closer.

THE UN CLIMATE CHANGE TREATY HAS RUN ITS COURSE AND WESTERN NATIONS SHOULD ALL LEAVE
President Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was long overdue.
Signed by President George Bush and ratified by a unanimous Senate in October 1992, the treaty’s purpose is to avoid “dangerous human interference with the climate system” by restricting greenhouse gas emissions, most of which derive from energy.
Read the reasons why this is the right decision for the USA and all the other Western nations in the linked article.

SOLAR PANELS TO BE COMPULSORY ON ALL NEW UK HOMES
The Energy Secretary on Wednesday launched a £15 billion green energy plan to fit solar panels, heat pumps, insulation and double glazing to five million homes for people on low incomes – all at taxpayers’ expense.
Housebuilders will also be blocked from installing boilers and gas fires in new homes under building regulations to be announced later this year. This will increase the cost of new homes along with the new building safety levy which is a tax to cover the cost of removing inflammable cladding from blocks of flats. Expect more tax increases to cover this latest policy.

CLIMATE MODELS V OBSERVATIONS
Climate models suggest that the strongest warming response the climate system has to increasing anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (mainly CO2 from fossil fuel burning) is in the tropical upper troposphere. This produces the model-anticipated “tropical hotspot". The tropical upper troposphere has the largest temperature response in climate models (up to 0.5 deg. C per decade).
But in the real world of observations this hotspot does not exist as can be seen from the article below:

Facing industrial death, Germany has finally decided it needs dispatchable reliable electricity. UK GRID HEADING FOR TIPPING POINT
Across heating, transport and industry in the UK, electrification targets rely on a similar set of assumptions: that consumers will change behaviour rapidly, that costs will fall quickly and predictably, and that electricity infrastructure will expand smoothly to accommodate new demand. The report tests these assumptions sector by sector and finds them wanting.

NET ZERO COSTS NOW £4.5 TRILLION
That is for just the UK!
Critics said the extraordinary mounting costs for measures such as wind farms, solar panels, green heating systems and upgrades to roads and railways are significantly higher than previous forecasts and could 'bankrupt' the economy.
The figures, quietly published last month by the National Energy System Operator (NESO) – a Government quango responsible for Britain's energy systems – includes an estimated £585 billion to be forked out by ordinary households to pay for the move away from energy–guzzling boilers towards eco–friendly heat pumps.

PROOF THAT GREENLAND WAS WARMER JUST 7000 YEARS AGO
The first study from GreenDrill—a project co-led by the University at Buffalo to collect rocks and sediment buried beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet—has found that the Prudhoe Dome ice cap was completely gone approximately 7,000 years ago, much more recently than previously known, says Phys.org. When sediment is buried, electrons can become trapped inside its tiny mineral grains due to natural radiation and remain there until the sediment is exposed to light again, at which point they produce a measurable glow.

BUG FOOD BUSINESS GOES BUST
"Go woke - go broke" is a saying that is often quoted these days. It seems very apt in this case relating to a French company called Ynsect. The company made some very bad decisions and found themselves struggling with high energy costs making their products too expensive. GEO-ENGINEERING - IS IT A HELP OR A DANGER?
Geo-engineering involves some way of blocking out some sunlight from reaching the Earth's surface to cool it. The problem is that the nations of the world might not agree whether they want it cooled, or by how much. And how can the people carrying out the research know how effective (or not) their methods will be. People are, rightly, worried about these experiments.
Natural changes can be harmful, but there is little we can do about nature. Instead we have to adapt as best we can. If you read the article linked you can see there are businesses hoping that other companies will pay them to offset their CO2 emissions.
