Those who have read the article by Roger Helmer MEP (see below) may have spotted a reference to a group of scientists referred to as the NIPCC. A search of the web has revealed the following article HERE which explains a little more about them.

The NIPCC is lead by Dr. Fred Singer and originated in a workshop in Vienna, Austria in April 2007. The outcome (arguably the best piece of sceptical work ever produced can be found here:

Some of the publications indicate that the 1990's was a period of little or no solar activity. I'm an ameture astonomer myself, and during the 1990's, 2001 and 2003 were the largest sunspots and largest solar flares ever recorded and photographed. Solar Astronomers were having a field day during those days. Look up on google for the top 15 largest sunspots and solar flares to see what I mean. There were some solar flares that were 2 and 3 times the size of the sun itself. We were seeing Aroraboraialisses as far south as Mexico, Dallas Texas and Florida.
