US Democrat presidential candidate, Barack Obama, has selected Joe Biden as his running mate for the forthcoming election. This article gives some information about his background, which shows clearly that he is likely to put the US economy in great danger by backing massive wind-farm schemes. Unfortunately for the US the Republican candidate seems almost as bad, though I have a feeling that he is likely to be the least fanatical on the matter; so when the reality of office hits home he might make more practical decisions as opposed to Obama/Biden.
See HERE for details of US oil reserves and more.
This site is a reference point for those with a cool head for climate science, arguably the most political science ever. When the government and most of the media concentrate on alarmism, this site is the antidote for those who don't believe the scare stories - YOU ARE NOT ALONE! NEW THEORY OF CLIMATE CHANGE
Here is a fascinating new theory of climate chamge which has been developed by researcher David Dilley from Florida. Mr. Dilley shows that global warming and cooling cycles occur naturally in response to specific long-term changes in the gravitation cycles due to variations within the moon's orbit.
The 43 page book is available on line, though to access it you have to pay a small fee of around $10. The first five pages are freely accessible. Of course any new theory has to be viewed sceptically, but nevertheless it deserves careful study. It is clear that the climate is a hugely complex chaotic system and man's understanding of it is still very incomplete, but every new insight could help us improve it.

UK ENERGY NEEDS "MORE IMPORTANT THAN CLIMATE CHANGE" SAYS MINISTER
Reality is not only dawning but is coming centre stage at last. Our Secretary of State for Energy has stated what every government privately believes - that the nations energy needs are more important than so-called climate change. Read the full report in this Telegraph article. Next we will be hearing them saying that there is no way they're going to meet the renewables target set by the EU, well maybe that's still being a bit optimistic, though I'm sure they all know it's true!

ROW OVER NEW UK COAL PLANTS
According to this story in the Guardian the UK proposed new coal-fired power stations are likely to "wreck the new treaty to replace Kyoto"(sounds like some good news here!). It looks as though the fat is about to hit the fan as reality finally meets the climate change bandwaggon.

IRISH WEATHER UNPREDICTABLE
This report in the Irish Times explains the futility of trying to predict the weather, or the climate, in Ireland. The same goes for most other places on the planet.

WILL US ECONOMY BE LEFT AT THE MERCY OF THE WIND?
Christopher Booker explains the worrying situation leaving the US voters with no choice, as both presidential candidates say they back a massive extension of wind farms.
In a follow-up article (scroll down) he reports that the situation is even worse than stated in his first article. It is hard to believe that once in office any president will stick to a policy that will lead to power cuts and job losses.

AN ENERGY FANTASY WORLD
For the benefit of foreign readers I must point out that the UK has three political parties - the third one has no chance of governing, and so is largely ignored. When you read this piece by the EU Referendum blog you will understand why!
Mind you, in its defence, I have to add that the other major parties are almost as bad in their understanding of the realities of energy provision. It's no better in most other countries from what I have read. Have you stocked your candles yet?

THE HOCKEY STICK SAGA - A TALE OF SUBTERFUGE AND CORRUPTION
Most readers will be familiar with the infamous hockey-stick graph which purports to show that there was no such thing as the medieval warm period or the little ice-age. The hockey-stick graph has been de-bunked by other scientists, but its conclusions are regarded as so important that climate alarmist scientists have gone to extraordinary lengths to try to preserve it.
The whole story is long and complex, but one brave blogger has attempted to put it together in a readable way HERE. This reading is going to take a little time to go through, but for those who wish to improve their understanding it is worthwhile.

ALARMIST ROUTED IN RADIO DEBATE
If you would like to hear a member of the climate alarmist brigade take a hammering then I can recommend this "debate" on US radio in which Viscount Monckton pulls no verbal punches.
I almost felt sorry for the hapless alarmist, but was stopped by the knowledge that he runs a blog which specialises in discrediting those scientists who dare to speak out against the mantra of man-made global warming. This encounter was definitely a case of the biter bit.

EAT KANGAROO TO SAVE THE PLANET
This piece explains how some people are seriously suggesting that switching from beef to kangaroo meat is necessary to prevent global warming.

ARCTIC ICE REFUSES TO MELT
Predictions about the Arctic becoming free of ice appear to be the usual exaggerations we have become used to. This article gives the up to date situation which seems far removed from the doom-laden warnings of the alarmists and their messengers in the television news studios. But we won't hear any broadcasts of their failed predictions, nor of the large increase in ice at the Antarctic. They remain resolutely on-message - if it doesn't fit the global warming narrative it isn't news.

UK NUCLEAR FUEL STOCKPILE REVEALED
This article in the Times explains the situation. This asset clearly points the way to a new nuclear era for the UK.

AL GORE'S CARBON EMPIRE
Al Gore is keen to expose those who speak out against his alarmist agenda as being in the pay of oil companies, yet he stands to make a fortune out of carbon trading schemes as THIS REPORT EXPLAINS. Maybe he should have declared his financial interest in the credits to his propaganda film An Inconvenient Truth.

FORGET CO2 - START WORRYING ABOUT O2!
Yes folks, the latest apocalyptic story emerging is the declining level of oxygen in the atmosphere. This Guardian piece by prominent left wing homosexual, Peter Tatchell gives the details. As far as I was aware the level of oxygen has always been 21%, except in crowded rooms where it declines, but to no serious effect to those in good health, but lets not allow that to spoil a good scare story.

US BUMPER GRAIN HARVEST
This story from EU Referendum highlights the problem of using grain to make ethanol keeping the price of food high even in a time of bumper harvest. And all for the quite pointless aim of attempting (and failing) to control levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, under the delusion that this will control the weather!

CHARLES IGNITES GM DEBATE
Prince Charles spoke out against the use of genetically modified food. His remarks have been rebutted by others who believe that GM crops are essential in order to provide enough food for the world's population. This Telegraph article goes into the issues, including inevitably the CO2 emissions from modern farming methods.

COAL POWER IS ESSENTIAL SAY GOVERNMENT
A dose of realism has emerged from the government who are now keen to back a new coal-fired power station at Kingsnorth in Kent, even without any commitment to fit the unproven carbon-capture technology. Realistically they know that power companies will not invest at all if too many strings are attached - something that the opposition seem unaware of! This article gives the detail.

US CLIMATE REPORT - A PERVERSION OF SCIENCE
Visitors to this blog have seen plenty of examples of one-sided reporting on the subject of GW. Here is an article on the US Climate Change Assessment Report draft which is yet another appalling example of what the writer describes as a perversion of science. As the evidence against serious warming gets weaker the alarmists can only try to make even more apocalyptic predictions to try to persuade an ever more sceptical public of the approach of armageddon.

LONDON MAYOR BRINGS COMMON SENSE
Boris Johnson, the new London Mayor, has upset the green alarmists - so he must be on the right track. Read the details in this article in the Guardian. I hope his party leader is going to follow his example, though I doubt it.

BOOKER PREDICTS DARK FUTURE FOR UK
Britain faces a dark future on the energy front according to Christopher Booker in his weekly column in the Sunday Telegraph. This bleak prospect will be the legacy of the present government long after they have left office. The one time they should have acted and they didn't.

ECO WARRIORS IN BATTLE OF KINGSNORTH
The protestors against the proposed new coal-fired power stations on the site of the existing power station at Kingsnorth in Kent caused a ripple of media attention in recent days. Reminscent of the anti-cruise missile protests of the 1980's, but on a rather smaller scale. They should have little impact on government policy. This article by Prof. Philip Stott sums it up eloquently.

LORD MONCKTON'S ADDRESS TO THE LGA
I recommend Lord Monckton's address to the Local Government Association, given a few weeks ago. I wish I could have been there when he delivered it, as regular readers of this blog will know that the LGA is pumping out its global warming policy in almost every issue of its state-funded magazine "First". - see HERE

ANOTHER VACUOUS SCARE STORY IN THE GUARDIAN
This story in the Guardian is typical of the sort of thing we find regularly in the press and on the television news. It simply repeats the propaganda that we're all doomed unless we stop emitting CO2 immediately. Without any supporting evidence the "expert" informs us that we must prepare for a 4C rise in temperatures (in spite of the fact that we have experienced cooling over the past 9 years, and many other scientists expect this to continue for the next decade).
As another so-called "expert scientist" pointed out, saying "we're all doomed" is not very helpful, as it means we might as well not bother since anything we do will be too late anyway. This is going to be one of the big problems for the alarmists, as well as the problem of the real weather not going according to the dire predictions. Either the end of the world is nigh, or it isn't.
Last winter was very cold in many parts of the globe. We were lucky, but it will only take one severe winter to convince many that these doom merchants are simply crying wolf!

PLAY THE FLOODING GAME
This report explains the details. Of course it's all guesswork, as no one can forecast the weather. Personally I doubt many people will want to go through all the complicated steps involved in this tedious game, but it is designed to frighten the player into believing in manmade global warming. I wonder what happened to all the hot dry summers we were told to expect?

ENERGY POLICY - WHAT ENERGY POLICY?
This piece in the Times points out the failure of government to have any sort of credible plan for future energy requirements. It would be funny if it wasn't going to cause such a disaster in five or ten years time - when they have left office. Another take on the same issue is to be found on the EU Referendum blog which naturally, and very importantly, highlights the EU dimension.
In the same vein, I have been given a copy of an excellent Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) booklet "Wind Chill" by Tony Lodge. It is a thorough study which spells out starkly the folly of relying on wind power. It can be read online by going to CPS, latest publicationsand scrolling down to "Wind Chill", and clicking on view.

A history of climate can be accessed in thousands of Captains' logs, revealed in this Times article. Alarmists will be disappointed to hear that the logs show that our climate was just as extreme then as now.

ICE-FREE ARCTIC "POSTPONED" TO 2030
This article by Christopher Booker (scroll to last section) explains that the dire predicitons of an ice-free Arctic this year have been postponed. The new prediction is for 2030. Sounds like the "end of the World" is not nigh after all!
