ENVIRONMENTAL NIMBYS STOP OIL PIPELINE

This article looks at the roots of environmentalism and finds it to be based on people who having gained an advantage from industry now seek to prevent it expanding near them. This attitude is exemplified by the decision of Obama not to go ahead with the Keystone XL Pipeline which was due to take oil from the Canadian Tar Sands to refineries in Houston. This project would have supplied secure oil for the USA, but has been vetoed for political reasons - to please the environmental lobby who support Obama, and not in the national interest of the USA.
