THE GREATEST INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY EVER

This article explains the enormous financial bandwagon that is starting to roll and gathering momentum such that even if the climate continues to fail to warm, or even cools, it will be difficult to stop it. The genie is well and truly out of the bottle.

SOLAR ENERGY TO ACHIEVE PRICE PARITY WITH FOSSIL FUELS BY 2014

Well that's according to this article from the Guardian. Mind you there are an awful lot of ifs and buts needed to achieve it - one of which is to make fossil fuels as expensive as possible, and the government are doing their best to achieve it.

CLIMATE SCIENTIST GUILTY OF CORRUPTION

A senior NASA climate scientist has been convicted of handing over grant money to his wife's business, according to this report. So can you trust a scientist? I guess it depends on who it is and how much money is at stake.

Alarmists have been predicting that methane would increase dramatically to save the warming hypothesis, but according to this report on WUWT it's not happening.

GW AND HURRICANES - NO PROOF OF A CONNECTION

This article by Roger Pielke Jr. explains that there is no scientific evidence of a link between global warming and hurricanes. Yet another global warming myth bites the dust.

WHY CHANGING ALARMIST VIEWS WON'T BE EASY

This article explains the thinking of those who have a deep religious conviction and why it is so hard to change their beliefs. An interesting challenge awaits.

SCEPTICS WELCOME BBC U-TURN

This Telegraph article highlights the big change at the BBC in allowing a sceptic view to be written on its website, as reported in an earlier post. Although the BBC have tried to play this down, it is hard not to see it as a new departure as no precedent has been pointed out.

'FORCE MOTORISTS TO PAY TO USE ROADS' - CLIMATE COMMITTEE

This article explains how the government's committee on climate change have come up with the idea that UK motorists have to be punished to try to reduce CO2 emissions and 'save the planet'. I'm sure they will show their gratitude in the ballot box.

'GW WORSE THAN 2 WORLD WARS & GREAT DEPRESSION' SAYS PM

Who says Gordon Brown is exaggerating when he says "climate change poses a greater threat to mankind than the two world wars and the great depression combined"? Easy for him to say, but on reflection I'd prefer a slightly warmer climate than the ravages of war. Here's the article just in case you think I made it up.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GLOBAL WARMING?

Here is a big article in the Daily Mail which highlights the doubts which many people are raising about the global warming hypothesis, just as the world's governments are trying to cobble together a deal to impoverish us all to try to reduce CO2 emissions (which will be unlikely to even prevent the level from rising).

GOOD ARTICLE FROM CHRISTOPHER BOOKER

Christopher Booker gives us a reality check in today's Telegraph.

MORE STATE CONTROL AND SUBSIDY FOR ENERGY SECTOR IN UK

This report in the Telegraph gives the details. The question is - will all this state management produce the result that the government wants, or will it simply drive up prices while still leaving the lights to go out?

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE RECORD LOW ANTARCTIC ICE MELT?

Did you hear the great news about the low level of Antarctic ice melt this year? No, I thought not! So it's just as well the report is available on the internet. Surely this good news story should be told as it may mean sea levels will not be rising catastrophically after all.

1970's FILM DISCUSSES THE COMING ICE-AGE

Here is an interesting website containing footage of scientists dicussing their concerns of the coming ice-age. Strange how our fears can change so quickly. One of the scientists is now a leading US global warming alarmist - Stephen Schneider.

ARE YOU "IN DENIAL" OVER GW?

I recommend this article if you enjoy a good laugh. Apparently a psychologist thinks that we are all in denial over global warming and so the government and its lackies have to find ever more scary stories to make us overcome this "denial" problem. He has obviously completely discounted the obvious alternative theory - that most people simply do not believe him and his fellow alarmists. Perhaps he is delusional, but has not been able to diagnose his condition.

GLOBAL WARMING SCARE "ALL BUT OVER"

At least that is what the author of this article believes. I think he might be a tad optimistic, but hope he is right. It is dead, all right, but to get the message out may take some time.

TOO MUCH DOOM AND GLOOM FROM THE GW CAMP

HAVE THE BBC BEGUN A U-TURN ON GLOBAL WARMING?

Here is an article on the BBC website that admits that those who do not accept that CO2 causes climate change have a case. For so long the BBC have repeated the mantra that 'the debate is over', yet here is an acknowledgement at long last that it is far from over.

YOU NEED MORE SCARY TALES ON GW

The government have seen the recent polls showing that the majority of the UK population do not believe the current scare over global warming, so they are embarking on new even scarier adverts on prime TV slots see - this article for details. I wonder if this kind of propaganda will work? If the message is at odds with the experience of those receiving it then it is likely to lead to even greater cynicism and outright derision. People today are just not that easily deceived.

COSMIC RAYS HIT 50 YEAR HIGH

As the sun's magnetic field declines, as shown by the current sunspot minimum, cosmic rays are 19% higher according to this NASA report. We do not know what effect this will have on climate, but several experts believe it will lead to increased cloud cover which will reflect more of the sun's radiation and cool the planet.

SHOULD WE AIM FOR THE STARS?

Someone once said that " a man may be lying in the gutter, but he is looking at the stars." (or may be something similar, I can't quite remember it).

Here is a fascinating website for those who like to speculate on the future of mankind. It looks at the vast energy required for long distance space travel, and although today it looks unattainable, it is no more so than a rocket would have been to our ancestors 300 years ago when the steam engine was invented. The point is that the green activists who constantly carp on about reducing our energy use would slow technological progress which depends on increasing available energy. They are pessimists. Progress depends on optimists.

'EMISSION CUTS AN ILLUSION'

According to this BBC article the new UK Chief Scientist says the 'real' emissions of CO2 have not been reduced but merely moved abroad as we manufacture less and import more.

So the whole emission trading bureaucracy is just a scam, creating an illusion. When the truth is revealed we are simply wasting our money.

ANOTHER BIT OF DODGY SCIENCE

After the previous doscredited hockey stick graph you might have expected scientists to have been a little more careful when trying to do a replica, but no - here is yet another piece of very selective use of data to give the "right" result. This comes only a few weeks after we learnt of the "missing" temperature data from the Hadley Centre. This is doing the image of science no good at all.

A COOL LOOK AT ARCTIC CLIMATE CHANGE

Here is a straight forward article explaining the hype over climate change in the Arctic. While there is no doubt that it is changing; this needs to be looked at in the wider context of the fact that it has always changed, and also it has been warming gradually since the Little Ice Age of three or four hundred years ago.

EXILE FOR NON-BELIEVERS

It has been noted before how scientists who dare to question the hypothesis of man-made global warming are pushed out. This article by Joanne Nova gives many examples, but one in particular that illustrates the visciousness of this form of censorship which tries to maintain the fiction of "consensus", but at a high price.

ANTARCTIC ICE GROWING

Contrary to the impression created by the bulk of the media, this article confirms that Antarctic ice is growing. We must not fall for the propaganda.

LATEST FROM NANNY STATE

This article highlights the latest whinge from our nanny state. "Take a minute less in the shower and put less water in the kettle, stop using a hose-pipe" etc, etc. As if this is actually going to "save the planet"! When the government has time to devote to nagging us it just shows the public sector is over-staffed.

HOW ABOUT A 'PLANNED RECESSION'?

This is an idea put forward by the Tyndall Centre in this article. So now we know what's in the minds of so-called green extremists. Never mind the ruined lives of all those who lose their jobs, so long as CO2 emissions are cut. When the climate ignores all the pain, what will they want to sacrifice next?

THOUGHT-PROVOKING ARTICLES

The following articles were sent to me by the author from Finland, Antti Roine:

They are both interesting and thought-provoking. Any comments welcome.
