'GW WORSE THAN 2 WORLD WARS & GREAT DEPRESSION' SAYS PM

Who says Gordon Brown is exaggerating when he says "climate change poses a greater threat to mankind than the two world wars and the great depression combined"? Easy for him to say, but on reflection I'd prefer a slightly warmer climate than the ravages of war. Here's the article just in case you think I made it up.

  1. Why is GB and everybody else so exercised about Climate Change? They are intelligent men. They have read through the sceptical side of the debate and realized CW is a load of tosh. There must be an alternative motive.

What if global cooling is on its way.. We cannot afford foreign fuel and ours is running out. Ergo reduce public demand through the fear of global warming - make it a nasty thing to expect - and then, when it gets cold, as it probably will,we shall try to get warm however we can but not by using imported carbon products. Or could there be some other reason?

  2. Politicians rarely go against the 'tide'. They are afraid of the loss of career. I have met a number of politicians who privately believe, as you say, that GW is not a serious problem, but publicly they vote for it. Even George W Bush, who clearly did not believe in it, had to publicly pay lip-service to it.

Ther is now such a bandwagon rolling that it is almost unstoppable - even if cooling sets in, though a severe winter will be a serious test Blckouts and fuel shortages will definitely affect politicians whatever they have signed up to. A run of several cold years will kill it off.
