WORLD BANK POURS BILLIONS INTO "WAR ON AGRICULTURE"
Created to alleviate global poverty, the World Bank has decided the “manmade climate crisis” is a far greater threat to impoverished families than contaminated water, malaria, and other killer diseases, hunger, or even two billion people still burning wood and dung because they don’t have reliable, affordable electricity. It has unilaterally decreed that 45% of its funds – an extra $9 billion in FY2024 – will be shifted to helping the poor “better withstand the devastation of climate change.” Read the rest of it here:

US CLIMATE REFERENCE NETWORK - PRISTINE DATA
Here is an interesting data set. It comes from 114 first class weather stations which are in locations that are as far as possible from any contamination from stray sources of heat, such as tarmac. concrete, buildings, traffic, aircraft, etc. What a great idea! Such a pity that our own Met Office has not tried to do the same. Surprisingly, for those who believe temperatures are rapidly increasing, the data has, so far, not shown any rising trend. As the data has only been going for 19 years, it is not long enough to show a meaningful trend, but if it continues for 30 years or more it will start to be more significant.
Unfortunately, NOAA never reports this data in their monthly or yearly “state of the climate report.” And, mainstream media either is entirely unaware of the existence of this data set or has chosen not to report on this U.S. temperature record.

USA ELECTION - DEMOCRATS KEEPING QUIET ABOUT CLIMATE POLICY
Just as in the recent UK election, there as been no mention of costly climate policies in the US election by the Democrats. The difference in the USA is that the other party, the Republicans, do have a different policy and they should mention it and not fear the Green Blob. We will see in the coming weeks if Trump has the courage to speak up.

ATLANTIC WARMING AND COOLING, NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN WHY
For over a year, surface temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean hit new highs, but that trend has reversed at record speed over the past few months, and nobody knows why. NOAA data shows Atlantic sea surface temperatures have cooled at a surprising rate since May. Since June began, temperatures have been a degree or two Fahrenheit colder than normal for this time of year. That means El Niño will likely be replaced by its counterpart, La Niña.
Scientists have no idea why the Atlantic has suddenly got colder, but they think they know that global warming made it hotter in the first place, even though there is no scientific explanation for the claim that a slightly warmer atmosphere can make any measurable difference to ocean temperatures!

WHAT IS THE COST OF CARBON CAPTURE UTILISATION AND STORAGE?
CCUS applications do not all have the same cost. Looking specifically at carbon capture, the cost can vary greatly by CO2 source, from a range of USD 15-25/t CO2 for industrial processes producing “pure” or highly concentrated CO2 streams (such as ethanol production or natural gas processing) to USD 40-120/t CO2 for processes with “dilute” gas streams, such as cement production and power generation. Capturing CO2 directly from the air is currently the most expensive approach.
Moving on to the cost of transport and storage, this can also vary greatly on a case-by-case basis, depending mainly on CO2 volumes, transport distances and storage conditions. In the United States, for example, the cost of onshore pipeline transport is in the range of USD 2-14/t CO2, while the cost of onshore storage shows an even wider spread. However, more than half of onshore storage capacity is estimated to be available below USD 10/t CO2.
Is carbon capture too expensive? – Analysis - IEA
The following video looks at the problems with this as well as stating its importance, assuming that capturing and storing CO2 is necessary.

LEADING ATMOSPHERIC SCIENTIST, RICHARD LINDZEN, SUMMARISES THE DEBATE ON GW
Richard Lindzen is not a household name ,like David Attenborough, but that does not mean he is not a great scientist. On the contrary, his achievements are outstanding, (see his Wikipedia entry here: Richard Lindzen - Wikipedia ) He is someone who should not be ignored, as he has spent decades studying the physics of the atmosphere. His latest speech gives a good analysis of the state of climate science at the link below:
“Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities” - Clintel
The following section provides a neat summary of where we are today:
So here we are, confronted with policies that destroy western economies, impoverish the working middle class, condemn billions of the world’s poorest to continued poverty and increased starvation, leave our children despairing over the alleged absence of a future, and will enrich the enemies of the West who are enjoying the spectacle of our suicide march, a march that the energy sector cowardly accepts, being too lazy to exert the modest effort needed to check what is being claimed.

RECEDING SWISS GLACIERS REVEAL WHAT?
I just read the following article and came across the paragraph below, in it.
Switzerland offers prize money to get munition out of lakes - BBC News
"Even on the glaciers, now receding amid the impacts of climate change, the melting ice is revealing spent and live ammunition left over from high mountain training which took place decades ago." - Clearly those glaciers must have grown in the decades prior to the recent receding, suggesting that the climate must have cooled in the twentieth century after the munitions were left there, thus showing that the recent warming is not unprecedented, but part of a cycle of warming and cooling.

LIFESPAN OF WIND TURBINES
We are constantly being told that wind turbines produce the cheapest electricity. I have produced plenty of information to refute that in previous posts, but in the short video below by Paul Burgess he explains how quickly turbines can deteriorate and how the maintenance cost increase during the first ten years of use. Also their efficiency drops off quite rapidly.
Paul Burgess Basics 2 The Lifespan of Wind Turbines (youtube.com)
The main reason why renewables, such as wind and solar, will not be as cheap as coal or gas is because they are intermittent sources and so they require back-up for when the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing.

WHOSE EMISSIONS ARE THEY?
As the climate change blame game hots up, groups of activists are finding more and more ways of finding who to put the blame on for the ever more apocalyptic predictions of climate Armageddon. This new report places the blame squarely on the nations that sell the fossil fuel. If only they could stop it all they would achieve Nirvana. Their problem, of course, as always, is the money, and maybe the riots on the streets from all those put in dire poverty through a lack of, well everything! I'm sure that nice Mr Putin will do everything he can to save the planet!

ONE THIRD OF UK TEENAGERS THINK CLIMATE CHANGE IS DELIBERATELY EXAGGERATED
This is a headline from January 2024, but I have only just seen it and I found it surprising, and also heartening at the same time. In some ways we should not be surprised as many teenagers are rebels and like to oppose the status quo. Climate change has become so on-message that it is now almost a state religion.
Out in the real world, unlike in our institutions, such as government, there is actually a lot of scepticism which teenagers will pick up on. What this tells us is just how transient public support for the coming policies to decarbonise our lives really is.
Rather like immigration, people have not really accepted the arguments (for mass immigration). They have merely tolerated it. But as soon as they have an excuse to let their true feelings be known there are a lot of people willing to do so. Read the report on this survey here:

UK MET OFFICE JUNK TEMPERATURE MEASURING NETWORK BECOMING MORE WIDELY KNOWN
Here's another article referring to the poor quality of the Met Office Weather stations measuring the daily maximum and minimum temperatures across the UK. This negative coverage of this institution is so damaging for its reputation and yet it seemingly does not care, as it continues to open new stations that don't make the grade and uses them to produce new high temperature records. It is time our MPs raised this issue in Parliament to shame them into improving things.

FALSE CLIMATE INFORMATION FROM THE BBC
Most people now believe that the climate coverage from the BBC has become a litany of one-sided propaganda. This can now be verified by the following report:
Tall Climate Tales from the BBC, 2023 (squarespace.com)
How sad that our state broadcaster, once renowned for its impartiality, should now be ridiculed for its attempt to brainwash its viewers and listeners. Not only sad, but also completely wrong, as on such an important issue costing us all so much, we desperately need a good source of balanced, reliable information. By going down this route they will lose the trust of all but the most naive of their audience.

CARBON CAPTURE UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT
Below is a link to a new video from Paul Burgess which highlights the fallacy at the heart of carbon capture and storage which is the massive cost of it in terms of the amount of CO2 which it could remove. It will drive up the cost of energy and practically everything that we make or consume. Those nations which do not go down this route will have a much lower cost of living. Here is the link:

ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATES ARE "USELESS", SAYS SUSTAINABLE BUILDING CHIEF
The property industry seems to uniformly despise the EPC system, which gives homes a score from A to G. That shouldn’t matter except that the Government has just put this deeply-flawed metric at the heart of its net zero drive.
The Conservatives have already been through this charade. Originally, landlords were required to make sure their properties met at least an EPC “C” rating by April 2025 for new leases and April 2027 for existing leases. This was later scrapped. Now Labour's Ed Miliband wants to re-introduce the deadline at 2030. This gives landlords a little more time to get out of this over-regulated business.

THE DANGER OF CO2 PIPELINE LEAK
The incident I referred to in my piece yesterday about CO2 pipelines has been the subject of a number of articles and videos which can easily be found by a quick search of the internet. Below is a link to one of them:
The Gassing of Satartia—CO2 pipeline causes mass poisoning in Mississippi (youtube.com)
What many people may not realise is the very high pressure that exists within the pipeline. It is this which gives rise to the risk, along with the massive quantity that can escape in the event of any rupture of the pipe. Without oxygen we are rendered unconscious within minutes and our petrol and diesel cars stop working, so there is literally no escape.

CO2 PIPELINE SAFETY FEARS LEAD TO LEGAL BATTLES IN THE USA
Carbon dioxide in pipelines is a liquid under high pressure. If it leaks, it turns to gas as it rushes out. Since it is heavier than air, it stays close to the ground and can cover wide areas. Carbon dioxide is harmless in small quantities, but in large amounts, it is an asphyxiate, can force oxygen out of people’s lungs, and can cause headaches, dizziness, serious injuries, and death.
On February 22, 2020, a carbon dioxide pipeline ruptured in Satartia, Mississippi. The rupture occurred on a Saturday and spewed CO2 for about four hours. An invisible cloud of CO2 moved through the rural community forcing more than 200 people to evacuate and at least 45 to be hospitalized. Victims were unable to breathe and suffered unconsciousness and fits of shaking. No one died during the incident, but some victims continue to suffer ongoing physical problems.

GREENLAND ICE MELTED AWAY IN THE LAST MILLION YEARS
Scientists have discovered plant and insect remains under a two-mile-deep (three km) ice core extracted from the centre of Greenland, providing the clearest proof yet that nearly all of this vast territory was green within the past million years, when atmospheric CO2 levels were much lower than today.
The important message here is that natural climate change has caused huge changes and so it could do so again. The vast cost of trying to achieve net zero is likely to be futile. Instead we should adapt to the climate as it evolves.

CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE
A lot of small scale experimental projects are being tested, as can be seen in the lengthy report, linked below, which was written in 2019, so more work will have been done since. The one thing that is not mentioned is the cost of this and how much it will increase the cost of electricity and other manufacturing processes, and that is a crucial question. Not to mention who is going to pay for it, as the answer is obviously us.
A scheme is being proposed here in the Solent by Exxon. This can be seen here: Solent CO2 Pipeline Project There is currently a consultation out for public comment, focusing on the route of the pipeline, but some people may want to ask questions about safety, particularly as there is at least some similarity between injecting gas into rock under high pressure and the process of fracking.

LONDON AND SOUTH EAST ENGLAND UNDER THREAT OF BLACKOUTS
National Grid executives have warned of blackouts before the end of the decade unless the South East pays more for power than other regions.
In private conversations with the energy industry, executives from the Grid’s Electricity System Operator (ESO) claimed the network was becoming so congested that “there will be blackouts in the South East by 2028”, one industry source claimed.
The issue has prompted the Government to weigh major changes to the electricity market, potentially by splitting it into regional zones that would each have their own electricity price.

SEND IN THE CLOWNS
Don't bother - they're here!
These people are so brain-washed that they cannot conceive how foolish they look to the rest of the public. The other day they were trying to stop folk getting to their plane and the people simply stepped round them and ignored them completely. How irrelevant must they have felt!
It is high electricity prices and power cuts that will get people rioting on the streets, not a bit of extreme weather.

AUSSIES RULE OUT CLIMATE TARGETS
It appears that Aussie businessmen have discovered that climate targets are not compatible with making money!
Almost 30pc of Aussie companies have ‘no intention’ of meeting climate targets, new study reveals
By Jared Lynch, The Australian Business Review
Now, a survey of more than 500 companies from Schneider Electric — the biggest adviser of Australian commercial power users — says 28 per cent have no intention of meeting their Paris Agreement commitments. A further 42 per cent say they have not begun decarbonising their operations.
The worst performers in meeting climate goals were smaller companies, healthcare, construction and professional services, with the Schneider survey revealing 18 per cent did not know where to start, while almost a quarter did not consider it a priority.
Ponder just how devastating this is. 42% of Australian companies have not even begun, and another 28% have no intention of finishing.
That’s a 70% failure rate.

HOUSING - YET ANOTHER REASON WHY NET ZERO IS UNACHIEVABLE
There are many reasons why the UK (or any other developed country) will not be able to dispense with the use of fossil fuels, but dealing with housing emissions is a big one. The following brief report gives the details:
