UK NOT CONSIDERED GOOD FOR AI INVESTMENT

The UK's high energy costs were quoted as one major reason why a major AI project deal has been "paused". We are just slipping out of being the first choice for investment which is so sad.

NEW VIDEOS FROM PAUL BURGESS

Paul Burgess has three new videos explaining how the Isle of Man is being mislead about the so-called benefits of having wind farms on or near the island. Quite a long video but interesting as always.

THE FORGOTTEN UK HEATWAVE OF 1947

Just as the media were being fed the usual "impossible without climate change" line (for the recent short heatwave in the UK), out of the past someone finds that it has happened before. But don't mention it because it may cause mental health issues for those running the Met Office. It's not an accident that no one ever challenges the expert who is put in front of the camera to trot out the climate change line. That is why the climate change line has become such a joke.

DANGEROUS MAN SCRUTINISING THE MET OFFICE

The UK Met Office is constantly proclaiming record high temperatures across the UK, but they are very reluctant to admit that many of these records are obtained using measuring sites which are rated so low that the errors in measurement are plus or minus at least 2 degrees Celsius. They are under investigation by Ray Sanders who features in the interview below.

MET OFFICE COMPLAINS OF "UNFAIR TREATMENT"

I suppose we should not be surprised that a government funded body like Ofcom should defend another government funded body, the Met Office", but it leaves a bitter taste to see this result when the Met Office is shown to be guilty of so many failings which have been highlighted on this blog. It is high time the Met Office were given a grilling by a parliamentary committee, but that too is unlikely unless we get a change of government. You can read the judgement here:

UK MET OFFICE MUST UPDATE ITS EXTREME PREDICTIONS

Recently the UK Met Office's RCP8.5 pathway assumptions were dismissed by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as “implausible”  The Met Office’s UKCP18 is a real shocker. Bold type was used to highlight all the extreme findings based on RCP8.5 including massive rises in temperature within 50 years (5.1°C in summer and 3.8°C in winter) and significant drops and increases in summer and winter rainfall respectively. Sea-level rises in London up to 1.15 metres were forecast by 2100. All this now dismissed as implausible must be erased from any future predictions.

THE DEMONISATION OF FRACKING IN THE UK

This excellent new video by Paul Burgess explains how fracking has been given such a bad press that it is now impossible to give it a fair hearing in the UK. This is at a huge cost to the country.

NET ZERO LOSING APPEAL IN AUSTRALIA

Recently the Australian Government has been very supportive of net zero policies, but they are becoming unpopular with the public there just as they are losing support more generally due to the high cost of energy resulting in increased cost of living and job losses.

NEW BREAKAWAY CLIMATE CONFERENCE MAKES A LOW KEY START

Colombia and the Netherlands co-hosted the first Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels Conference in the coastal city of Santa Marta in Colombia from April 24–29. The conference brought together governments from 57 countries – representing one-third of the world’s economy – to create practical, accelerated roadmaps for phasing out coal, oil, and gas. The states in attendance included EU member states and the U.K. However China, India, the U.S., Russia, Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates were all absent.

THE VOLCANIC ERUPTION THAT CHANGED OUR UNDERSTANDING

On January 15, 2022,  Hunga Tonga volcano on the floor of the South Pacific exploded with enough force to punch a plume 35 miles into the sky, says the Daily Galaxy. Nearly four times the water contribution of the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption, which had been the modern benchmark for volcanic atmospheric disruption.

LABOUR PARTY CLIMATE DOGMA TO DESTROY NORTH SEA OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY

Despite the recent oil and gas shortages caused by the Iran conflict, the UK Labour Government are determined to push on with their ideological attack on UK fossil fuel extraction. See the article below, taken from a piece in the Telegraph.

TRUMP FINDS A NEW WAY TO STOP NEW OFFSHORE WIND PROJECTS

Here;s the new Plan B.

The administration enters into legal settlements with the wind farm developers, whereby the government pays the developers substantial sums of money to walk away from the projects. Oh, and as a kicker, the settlements require the developers to reinvest the settlement funds in oil and gas projects in the U.S. The first such settlement was entered into with the French developer Total Energies in March, and then in late April the administration concluded two more such settlements with other developers.

COUNCILS WILLING TO GO FURTHER ON CLIMATE POLICY

Much of what councils do is to implement what their national governments give them, but there are some areas where a council can choose their own policy and here we see that Copenhagen City has chosen to go further in restricting the diet of those in rest homes as this article explains,

There seems little democratic freedom here. The climate agenda is a big bonus to those who enjoy controlling us.

UK NET ZERO JUST GOT MUCH TOUGHER

When you are struggling to reach a target, is it a good idea to make that target even more difficult? The UK Government seem to think so.

OIL AND GAS NOT STRANDED ASSETS AFTER ALL

What stranded asset? Norway opens up 3 old, gas and oil fields and 70 new exploration sites « JoNova

Amid sharp price rises in oil and gas since the US and Israel’s attack on Iran in February, Oslo has given its approval for oil and gas companies to explore in 70 new locations in the North Sea, Barents Sea and Norwegian Sea.

At least their government is putting its own people first instead of just putting up taxes. If only our leading politicians would learn from them.

BANS ON ADVERTS FOR MEAT AND FOSSIL FUELS IN EUROPE BEGIN

Banning adverts for widely popular products seems to fly in the face of peoples rights to a free choice in a democratic country. I wonder if the news below will be copied by others, or will there be a backlash?

INFORMATIVE MATERIAL ON THE SCIENCE OF GW

Below is a link to a 31 page deposition given by three very distinguished scientists to a judge in a legal case. It covers the whole area of global warming and includes diagrams, graphs and tables. Some parts of it are quite technical and hard for a layman to follow, though presumably the judge was not a scientist. The questions at the end were particularly interesting and well worth reading

USA SHOWS WORLD DOMINANCE IN OIL AND GAS

In a striking display of America’s energy dominance, the United States has shattered export records for crude oil, diesel, and gasoline—delivering a powerful message on Persian Gulf Day as military options against Iran remain firmly on the table. This landmark achievement underscores the remarkable strength of U.S. production and refining capacity, even amid global tensions.

If only the UK had continued to extract the oil and gas that exist around and under our territory we could be reaping the rewards right now. But no, our government would rather forego that and head for net zero instead.

FUTURE CLIMATE PREDICTIONS ARE NOW LESS SCARY

The whole climate scare is based on predictions based on how much CO2 is emitted. The computer models link the amount of CO2 with the degree of global warming which in turn gives predictions of sea level rise and even amounts of floods, droughts etc.

What has just happened is that these scientists in charge of the computer programme have decided that the scenario with the greatest emission of CO2 is simply not possible (something that many scientists have been saying for years). So they have now removed it in the latest version.

The problem is that this "impossible" scenario has been used to produce the scary headlines and by political leaders as a reason for bringing out costly policies. Are they now going to admit that they have brought in unnecessary policies - of course not.

HOW PUBLIC VIEWS ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE ARE CHANGING

According to an article on the BBC website, this is why climate change is not a vote winner:

Concern about climate change "had taken second place to issues like cost of living, economy and also immigration" in recent years, the environment psychologist explained, citing a hypothesis known as the "finite pool of worry".

The share of the UK public who have said the country needed to reach net zero sooner than 2050 had nearly halved since 2021, according to a recent study by King's College London, Ipsos and the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations, external.

The proportion of people who feel the target's not needed had risen from 9% to 26% over the same period.

The fact is that support for net zero is something that has been built on exaggeration and confusion between weather (short term) and climate (based on long term averages). People are starting to notice this, and the more it is pointed out the less people will worry.
