HOW LONG CAN THE UK MET OFFICE HIDE FROM SCRUTINY?

So far the government has managed to hide the failings of the Met Office by evading the questions that it has been asked, bur Super Sleuth, Ray Sanders, has not stopped digging into the state of the UK Weather Stations and the way our surface temperatures are measured.

Recently Ray has found a station (Altnaharra) which has managed to produce records going back to 1961, even though the station did not start recording until 1993. This might seem odd to you and me, but the Met Office normally explain this by claiming that they calculate these figures by using "well-correlated nearby stations". The only problem is that there aren't any such stations available for this one.

AUSSIE MET OFFICE IN DATA FIDDLING SCANDAL

In science, the raw data is sacrosanct, but a new type of analysis shows hundreds of anomalies and oddities in BOM (Australian Bureau of Meteorology) Raw data, and whole months of supposedly raw records have been cut and pasted, in one instance as far as 40 years earlier.

Tom Berger is a specialist in data-based deception analysis who has assisted the FBI in the past. So he has analyzed the BOM raw data in new very detailed ways. He found adjustments in one site were predictable in a machine-learning way from another site 800km away, suggesting that “the adjustments were following a systematic, network-wide pattern”, not just with an issue at a single station.

USA TO SCRAP BIDEN ERA METHANE REGS

Former President Joe Biden’s EPA finalized sweeping methane regulations in 2023, later establishing the super-emitter program as part of its 2024 oil and natural gas rules. The administration projected that the broader regulations would prevent approximately 58 million tons of methane emissions between 2024 and 2038.

No doubt there are homes that are uninsurable due to repeated flooding, for example. For those affected it is a crisis, but these cases are a very small percentage of the market, so to describe it as a "financial crisis" is a vast exaggeration, like so many other claims made about the climate.

It is not clear whether this is on a ‘Net Zero’ basis or if it actually means no fossil fuel use at all. Mr Newsom says California has run on 100% clean electricity on nine days out of 10 this year. The US Department of Energy has put the point without ornament: about 15% of California’s primary energy comes from renewables and more than 75% from oil and natural gas. The California Policy Center has called the Governor’s clean-energy claims “transparently false”.

The UK has only around 42 days of diesel reserves, among the lowest in Europe, and imports 54 per cent of the diesel it consumes. If diesel prices go up, it costs the farmer more to grow our food: it costs the lorry drivers more to transport it. The Government, by issuing a simple exemption to the ETS and cutting fuel duty, has it in its power to make a serious start on reducing Britain's strategic vulnerability and containing the cost of living crisis.

UK REFINERIES BEING SQUEEZED OUT

Britain lost two oil refineries last year – Grangemouth closed in April 2025 and Lindsey followed in August, leaving just four operating sites: Fawley, Humber, Pembroke and Stanlow. In 2025, we imported 15.5 million tonnes more petroleum products than we exported, the largest deficit since Britain became a net importer in 2013.

…since 2009, approximately 30 refineries have shut down continent-wide, leading to a 37% contraction in refining capacity over the past decade. Industry forecasts now indicate that 60% of Europe’s total refining capacity is at high risk…

“… we are currently paying £70 million to £80 million a year in CO2 costs. That will go up to £150 million in the next four or five years, and our competitors are not paying any. That is the cost delta that we are suffering versus our competition, and that is what is causing refineries to shutter in the UK. We have lost two recently. FAWLEY REFINERY TO SHUT DOWN FOR 3 MONTHS

This is for planned maintenance, but with UK refinery capacity at low levels to start with this is another blow to hit us on top of the general shortage of diesel fuel here. No one can say that fossil fuels are not essential to our way of life for the foreseeable future and yet the government here will not make a decision on whether to allow more drilling in the North Sea until after next week's bye election, as they are afraid of losing votes to the Green Party. WHERE ARE ALL THE PREDICTED ATLANTIC HURRICANES?

 Back in the spring, you couldn’t open a weather app without reading about the “supercharged” hurricane season headed your way. Bigger storms. More of them. All courtesy of a warming planet.

We’re now well past the statistical peak of the season. And on September 11th, the Atlantic quietly made history.

That was the date the basin had to beat to avoid the record books. Twice before – 2002 and 2013 – the Atlantic had gone as late as September 11th without its first hurricane, and never later. This year, September 11th came and went with nothing on the board.

No matter what forms between now and the season’s official end on November 30th, 2026 already owns the title of the slowest start to hurricane season since satellite tracking began in 1966.

(The scientists still found a way to make this your fault. Give me a second to explain.)

The Washington Post ran the numbers and landed on this gem: rising atmospheric “stability” in the tropics “may be connected to a changing climate.” So for thirty years, an active season was blamed on climate change. Now a historically dead one is climate change too.

THE PEOPLE'S EMERGENCY BRIEFING'S HARMFUL PROPAGANDA

 The People’s Emergency Briefing is a roughly 50-minute film. The first showing of it was at Westminster Central Hall in November 2025 to an audience of MPs, It is now being shown in village halls, churches, workplaces and similar rooms. Organisers keep the film off the open web. Hosts are expected to follow a screening pack, run a guided discussion, and have someone on hand if people become distressed. Attendance is recommended from age 16. The political ask at the end is to lobby for a prime-time television briefing introduced by the Prime Minister, delivered in a similar way as the COVID broadcasts.

The Trump administration on Monday announced it was slashing rules that had been aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and boosting electric vehicles.
