GREEN MOVEMENT'S ROTTEN CORE EXPOSED IN NEW VIDEO

In reality the government will be saddled with massive debts, far worse than those of the banking crisis. How is it possible that we can afford to spend even more on green technology? I fear the truth is more like that written by Peter Hitchens. I fear they will collect the money from the easy targets with savings.

IS PROPAGANDA POSSIBLE OR DESIRABLE IN A DEMOCRACY?

Do we believe that the government can use propaganda to indoctrinate the population in a free western democracy like the UK? I believe they can and do, though not by an orchestrated conspiracy but simply with the consent of a pliable media. 

If we take the coronavirus pandemic as an example, there is clearly a massive exercise in controlling the public's behaviour and although there is disagreement about some of the details there is a clear consensus that this is accepted. 

But what about other less consensual policies, such as climate change? Here the message is much less consensual and dissent is tolerated. The propaganda is promulgated by a free media because they choose to do so. Those in charge of the media believe they are doing the right thing

European Commission Rejects ‘Climate-Related Conditions’ For Covid-19 Recovery Aid

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Union’s top climate official encouraged governments on Monday to attach green conditions to public support for coronavirus-hit companies, after the bloc’s executive opted not to do so at the EU level.



The European Commission, which approves state support schemes, updated its temporary rules on Friday for firms receiving government aid during the pandemic.

The new rules ban dividends, share buybacks and bonuses for bailed-out companies, for so long as the state holds a stake in them.

They do not attach climate-related conditions to EU approvals of state aid – despite calls from lawmakers and green groups to do so – and instead leave it to national governments to choose to add “green strings” to bailouts. […]

The EU executive has said its “Green Deal” plan to cut net EU greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 will guide the bloc’s economic recovery.

But it has proved unwilling to use state aid rules – which are designed to avoid distortions of competition – to link countries’ support schemes to climate goals. EU competition regulators said the current objective was to help virus-hit companies cope with liquidity and solvency issues.

Under its revised temporary state aid framework, unveiled on Friday, large firms must report on how they use public funds in line with the EU’s green goals. The framework does not require firms to use state funds to become greener, or oblige governments to attach climate conditions to support.

Member states are “free to design national measures in line with additional policy objectives” such as climate aims, it said.

INDIA ANNOUNCES RECORD COAL PRODUCTION

India will produce a record 700 million tonnes of coal in the current fiscal ending March 2021, helping cut down on imports, Coal Secretary Anil Jain said.

India produced 602.14 million tonnes of coal in 2019-20 fiscal year, marginally lower than 606 million tonnes output in the previous year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target to expand the country’s economy to USD 5 trillion by 2024, from USD 2.9 trillion currently, and reducing energy imports and harnessing domestic resources are key to meeting that goal.

India expects coal-fired power capacity to grow by 22% in three years.

That’s according to the Chief Engineer at the country’s Federal Power Ministry, Ghanshyam Prasad, who Reuters reported as stating coal capacity is likely to reach 238GW by 2022.
India’s Coal Minister, Pralhad Joshi previously said annual coal demand rose by 9.1% during the year ending March 2019, noting the overall demand figure hit 991.35 million tonnes, driven primarily by utilities, which accounted for three-quarters of it.
The anticipated growth is likely to affect efforts to cut emissions and could risk worsening already poor air quality.
India’s electricity demand rose by 36% in the seven years up to April 2019, while coal-fired generation capacity during the period rose by three-quarters to 194.44GW.

LARGE ARCTIC OZONE HOLE WAS JUST WEATHER

An ozone hole over the Arctic that was the largest ever recorded there has closed, according to the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS). And its beginning and end have nothing to do with climate change, global warming or a reduction in air pollution because of the coronavirus pandemic
It has to do simply with the weather
CAMS monitored the rather unusual ozone hole that formed over the Arctic this spring and was reported closed April 23. Ozone holes are more common over the Antarctic every year, according to CAMS, but “the conditions needed for such strong ozone depletion are not normally found in the Northern Hemisphere.” 
The Arctic stratosphere is usually less isolated than its Antarctic counterpart because the presence of nearby land masses and mountain ranges disturbs the weather patterns more than in the Southern Hemisphere, CAMS reports. 
This year, however, a particularly strong polar vortex led to the Arctic ozone hole in which most of the ozone typically found around 11 miles into the stratosphere was depleted, according to CNN. The last time such a strong depletion was observed in the Arctic was almost a decade ago. 
So, why did it occur this year? 
“The behavior of the ozone and the stratospheric polar vortex during the winter into spring is supported by a couple of research papers,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Bob Smerbeck. “They state that the coldest and strongest polar vortex in the stratosphere and the lowest concentration of ozone over the Arctic are more likely to occur when you have a combination of a solar minimum, which we are in now, and a westerly QBO [quasi-biennial oscillation, meaning lower stratospheric westerly winds over the equator], which we had from last summer through most of this winter. 
“These are all naturally occurring processes,” Smerbeck said. 
A polar vortex that remained above the polar region without weakening and a strong positive phase of the Arctic Oscillation (AO) were among a combination of factors that led the contiguous U.S. to experience higher-than-normal temperatures from December 2019 through February 2020.
"When you have a strong polar vortex that remains in the polar region, it tends to keep frigid air pent up so that it is difficult for long-lasting outbreaks of frigid conditions to reach the middle latitudes, including portions of the Midwest and Northeast,” said AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok.
