THE MYSTERY OVER BRITAIN'S "HOTTEST DAY"

Christopher Booker looks at the evidence for Britain's hottest day, claimed by the Met Office during the recent hot spell that lasted for a few days. I wonder if the Met Office would have gone to so much trouble to claim a record cold temperature?

  1. Well, maybe they would have if it's strikingly lower than the previous low. But you do have a point and here's why. Concerns over melting of the ice caps and greenhouse gasses, that all leads to hotter weather, not colder. So whenever they register a new high in temperatures, it generates additional fuss, touching on global warming. That's how I see it at least.

    1. Similarly, in England, every single case of rubbish clearance brings thoughts of the unethical practice of fly tipping and all the fines that come with it. We all seem to be playing a world of associations game these days.
