EVs ARE TOO HEAVY FOR CURRENT INFRASTRUCTURE

 In the UK, as many as 1 in 20 bridges may be too weak to handle the load. Perhaps it’s lucky then that there aren’t enough minerals in the world to make all those EV’s. If it takes us 200 years to dig up the copper required, that may give us time to rebuild the carparks and bridges.

Given the higher wear and tear from EV’s obviously their registration costs and licensing and some tax on charging should be more expensive than lighter normal fuel cars. Someone has to pay for the road damage and rebuilds.

A heavier “fuel tank” needs a heavier chassis to hold it. And a heavier car means heavier buildings and bridges for it to drive on, and all that means more concrete and steel and more emissions. 

So they are not so green after all.

    From this article, the FF economy is 535 times the mining that the future green economy of 2040. The future green minerals are 4 times the mining of 2022 in 2040. There's an old saying in the United States of "That dog doesn't hunt anymore."

    1. But you cannot rebut the argument in the article, which is that EVs are heavier and will cause damage to car parks and bridges unless they are strengthened.

    2. Bridges will not have to be strengthened. As for heavy trucks, its just a little less load if necessary. It may not even be necessary.

    A report from Christian Aid warns that global warming will have a serious effect on the wealth of Commonwealth countries, with economic development declining because of rising temperatures. Extreme weather events such as floods or drought will make things worse. “The Climate Cost to the Commonwealth” says the rise in GDP could be slowed by 75 per cent by 2100 in some countries. Its recommendations include continuing pressure to lower the global temperature rise and efforts to agree the Get the Loss and Damage Fund, compensating countries adversely affected by climate change.

  3. There have always been extreme weather events and they are not getting any worse or more numerous. As for a loss and damage fund it is just a pipe dream. Completely unaffordable.

  4. 1000 lbs extra is not at some significant damaging action. Its minor. What happens is you need to replace tires sooner.
