Here is a follow-up to my previous post on the life-time of CO2 in the atmosphere, otherwise known as residence time. The link below is to a paper on the subject which demonstrates that this time is not decades, or hundreds of years, which is required for the man-made CO2 to be considered a major cause of warming. This finding accords with common sense, as CO2 is quite soluble in water and so it makes sense that much of it would be likely to get washed out in rain.
