Here's an interesting view of the global warming controversy from a senior Australian Cardinal. It continues the religious theme from yesterday's article; for example, he says "It is true that some of the more hysterical and extreme claims about global warming appear symptomatic of a pagan emptiness, of a Western fear when confronted by the immense and basically uncontrollable forces of nature".
There is a sort of battle for the hearts and minds of thinking people which is reminiscent of religious belief. The green movement is a cause without a belief and many of the extremists think they have found it. If you strip away the apocalyptic predictions the whole thing becomes almost pointless.
