As the climate change policies start to bear down on the people, we are beginning to see a backlash against it, as my recent posts have shown. This looks like coming to a head in Holland in November where they are holding a national election. The people are rallying behind a new political movement started by some farmers.
The Dutch election will be a referendum on the green agenda - The Post (unherd.com)

ReplyDeleteAt REVA University, we believe in creating pioneers who can respond to the world's most pressing concerns. The question on all our minds is - "How Can We Stop Global Warming?" Our University serves as a springboard where students can explore solutions to this critical question.
Your article at Reva University claims that doing a few simple things like recycling more, saving water, driving less, etc will reduce our CO2 and hence prevent extreme weather events. While it is true that if everyone followed these points there would be an overall reduction in emissions, it would be far too small to have any noticeable effect on either the level of CO2 in the atmosphere, or the weather. That is because there are huge emissions from major operations throughout the world in countries like China and India and dozens of others which are not being reduced. In fact they are increasing.
ReplyDeleteThe weather will do whatever it has always done. It is simply naive to believe otherwise. Having said that, it can still be a good thing to reduce waste in all aspects of our lives, as it saves money When it comes to extreme weather the far better way is to adapt to it. Make our homes and other infrastructure more resilient, avoid building in flood prone areas, store more water, etc.
