WORLD IS NOT BURNING UP - DON'T FALL FOR THE HYPE

It’s summer, so inevitably some places are hot! But Justin Rowlatt of the BBC wants you to focus on those and ignore all the other places that aren’t.

The full picture tells a totally different story. Across the world as a whole, there is the usual mix of above and below temperatures. The only exception is Antarctica, It is of course winter down under, and temperatures in and around Antarctica are still well below freezing, even though they may be 10C higher than average. So the world is not burning up, it is just another mix of weather.

THis mix of weather has a consistent warming trend underlying it the whole time in the last 73 years.

The last 73 years, the consistent trend overall is a warming earth. This is from human emissions of co2 into the atmosphere. This accepted scientific fact today. Short term flucuations in the average temperature of earth can be from natural variations in earth's temperature. The long term is clearly from humans.

If you go to the site and plug in the different temperature data sets, they will all show a warming trend on earth.

The data set below is from GIStemp v3

Trend calculation: Start date: 1950 End date: 2023
Units: °C/decade Moving average: 12 months

    Trend: 0.144 ±0.017 °C/decade (2σ)

The science of climate is multipronged. There is no simple way to show the many aspects of the destruction of a changing warming climate.
