So you, like me, have never heard of this. Well now I have, let me give you some facts.Nearly 900 companies – including several large international corporations – have withdrawn from the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). This initiative requires members to set scientifically validated climate targets in order to align their emissions goals with international standards. However, more and more companies are questioning the feasibility of these requirements. The withdrawal affects approximately seven percent of all participating companies. (So you can see that this was a big burden on businesses)
The extra costs incurred in complying were bound to lead to higher prices for consumers. However once people start leaving and returning to competing on price it is the firms left in this project that will be left struggling. It is the return to a free market economy.
893 companies have withdrawn from the global climate initiative
