This is the interpretation of this article on Bishop Hill blog. The extraordinary thing is that this is an official answer to a parliamentary question.
This site is a reference point for those with a cool head for climate science, arguably the most political science ever. When the government and most of the media concentrate on alarmism, this site is the antidote for those who don't believe the scare stories - YOU ARE NOT ALONE! (blog started on 7/11/07) We have over 3 million hits and blog is updated regularly most days.

UK CLIMATE MINISTER HAS SECOND THOUGHTS ON GW CAUSE
I am referring to Tim Yeo, Chairman of the UK Climate Change Committee. According to this piece in the Telegraph he is no longer certain that humans are responsible for global warming, although he still believes it is happening. Even so this is surely a big step for a senior climate alarmist, to which I give a small cheer.

MATT RIDLEY ATTACKED BY OXFORD PROFESSOR
This piece on Bishop Hill tells of an Oxford professor who has criticised Matt Ridley for an article he wrote in the Times. Matt has been denied a reply so has written one on the Bishop Hill blog. When you read the piece you can judge who gives the most reasonable argument.

ALARMISTS ARE STILL AT IT
This post by the excellent Donna Laframboise highlights an upcoming conference which wants to explore more radical ways to force us to go without. I think most governments will ignore such ideas which are simply suicidal for any democratically elected administration.

ARCTIC ICE HIGHEST SINCE 2002
This report is yet further proof that the world, or even the Arctic is currently refusing to conform to the alarmist view of catastrophic climate change. Remember the Arctic is the place where global warming has been the strongest over the past decade or so, yet it is currently 5C be low average.

SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT AWARE OF WIND TURBINE RIP OFF
At last governments are beginning to realise that wind farms are ripping off the public. In this report looks at the situation in Scotland where they are considering measures to take away some of the income from wealthy landowners. Seems rather like socialism to me, but that has always been closely related to the climate change business.

NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT SCIENTISTS DEFEATED IN COURT
This may well be old news to some of you, but I only came across it recently and thought it had been under-reported, so here is the report of the court case in Auckland which took place last August (2012). The result shows that the NZ scientists had no confidence in their work; there is a presumption by many people that they had been falsely adjusting the data. What an extraordinary state of affairs.

PRINCE CHARLES TALKS OF "DYING PLANET"
This article reports the prince's latest speech in which he ramps up the rhetoric on the effect of global warming. Some say he should keep his views to himself, but I feel that he should be free to give his views even though I disagree with him on this issue. I suspect that by straying into controversial subjects he will create enemies as well as friends and this may not be helpful to the long term future of the monarchy.

CLIMATE CHANGE - JUST CHANGE THE DATA
If you haven't read Steven Goddard's excellent blog Real Science, then I recommend that you do, and this section on how the climate data has been altered by James Hansen is a good place to start. How Hansen attained such power and influence I don't know, but what is extraordinary is that there has not been more debate on this by other climate scientists who don't agree with his rationale.

COULD ICE BE OUR WORRY?
This piece on WUWT includes a fascinating, if a little scary video, of ice advancing on lakeside property in Minnesota. While the threat of global warming appears to have stalled, we should not forget that ice-ages have dominated the earth for much of its past and could easily return.

CLIMATE ADVISORS DESERT AS THEIR PROJECT IS DOWNGRADED
According to this report the UK government's climate advisors are leaving as they come to believe that the will to continue down the path of rapid CO2 emission reductions is appearing to wane. The spirit is willing but their flesh is weakening as the spectre of high energy prices coupled with an ever closer election date focuses their tiny minds. When the ship starts to take in water the rats look for an escape route. One can only hope that the next lot of "advisors" are more down to earth, but I am not overly optimistic.

"GREENS CONTROL ENERGY POLICY OF UK AND EU"

US STATES RE-THINK ON RENEWABLE QUOTAS
In the light of the large fall in gas prices in the USA due to the success of shale gas as a result of the technique of fracking, many states are looking to educe the percentage of renewable energy that must be produced, according to this article.

A CRISIS IN UK ENERGY POLICY COMING SOON
| |||
EU policy makers have grossly underestimated the difficulties and risks of their drive to decarbonise the power sector. They have failed to take into account the huge changes in the economic, commodity and financial environments and adjust policy accordingly. A crisis in UK energy policy looks increasingly likely and therefore utility companies and investors would be prudent in limiting their future exposure. -- Peter Atherton and Guillaume Redgwell, Liberum Capital, 30 April 2013 When the crisis hits there will be three possible casualties, the government of the day, the consumer, and the investors who have funded the government’s radical energy policy. Whilst no doubt there will be plenty of pain to go around, in our view investors should be under no illusions that the government of the day will seek to protect itself and the consumer (who are also the electorate) by heaping most of the financial pain on to investors. --Peter Atherton and Guillaume Redgwell, Liberum Capital, 30 April 2013 The U.K.’s 376 billion-pound ($582 billion) program to switch from fossil fuel to renewable and nuclear power is headed for crisis because of looming energy shortages and spiraling costs, Liberum Capital Ltd. said. “Moving from a largely fossil-fuel based power system to one dominated by renewables and nuclear in just a decade and a half, whilst keeping the lights on and consumer bills affordable, may simply be impossible,” Peter Atherton said. --Sally Bakewell, Bloomberg, 30 April 2013 [It's a] struggle to find a single fund manager who believes UK energy policy is credible... That is why they are not investing. --Peter Atherton, London 1 May 2013 It's interesting then to see today's House of Lords report on EU energy policy. Their calculation seems to be that investors will be enticed in if the public are fleeced sufficiently; big bad capitalists will simply be unable to resist all that easy money. Liberum Capital, on the other hand, seem to have thought things through a little further, asking themselves whether the public will tolerate being fleeced to the extent envisaged in Westminster and Brussels. They conclude, correctly in my opinion, that transfers to big business on this scale will be seen as intolerable. The difference in opinion between the real world and the political world is rather stark, don't you think? --Andrew Montford, Bishop Hill, 2 May 2013 British leaders are making some truly bizarre decisions in an effort to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and comply with European renewable electricity mandates. For example, they are converting a coal-fired plant to burn wood chips that are shipped from the United States. A wood burning plant qualifies under the European rules for meeting electricity generation mandates from renewable energy for the purpose of reducing carbon dioxide emissions from energy producing sources. But this move is sheer lunacy for it will increase rather than decrease emissions while increasing the price of electricity to consumers. Yet the British parliament has whole-heartedly embraced the move. Have legislators gone mad? --Institute for Energy Research, 30 April 2013 The irony of the situation is that Britain is moving away from coal as other countries which have been big proponents of reducing carbon dioxide emissions are moving to build more coal-fired power plants. Germany is building 20 new coal-fired power plants to back-up its wind and solar plants and to replace its nuclear plants; the first of which (2,200 megawatts) came on line last September. China, the world’s largest emitter of carbon dioxide, is building at least one coal-fired unit a week and is planning to build 363 more coal-fired power plants to fuel its fast growing economy. India is also planning to build 455 new coal-fired power plants to fuel its growing economy. And then there is Japan, who is building coal-fired power plants to replace its nuclear power after the accident at Fukushima in 2011. --Institute for Energy Research, 30 April 2013 |

UK GOVERNMENT DITHERS OVER FRACKING
This article by Peter Lilley MP highlights the dilemma facing the government - should they stick to the policy of decarbonising and so ignore the potential of cheaper shale gas, or abandon the policy and go for cheaper energy. It's a no brainer to me.

This article tells us that the so-called smart appliance is a step nearer. Slowly we seem to be heading for an electricity system in which our usage is to be closely monitored. BOOKER GIVES THE GOVERNMENT A WITHERING BLAST
This is Booker's latest column in the Telegraph in which he rightly shows up the lunacy at the heart of government energy policy. Peter Lilley is still a lone voice of sanity in the government. As the facts continue to part company with the theory he will surely be joined by others.

EXPERTS FALL FOR SCIENTIFIC SCAM
<This is the extraordinary story of the man who sold fake bomb detectors to governments around the world. In doing so he fooled some so-called experts in the field. Of course he had lots of glossy brochures and impressive videos to back up his claims for the device, but how extraordinary that no one thought to subject it to any sort of test which would have found it to be useless. I can't help but draw a parallel here with the global warming claims of catastrophic warming caused by CO2 emissions. If our governments can be fooled so easily, what hope have we that it could not happen in any other area as well?

UK CLIMATE CHANGE COMMITTEE LOOKS AT REDUCING CO2 FROM IMPORTED GOODS
Here is another excellent piece from the Scientific Alliance. Apparently the great minds of the CCC have concluded that while the UK has cut its CO2 emissions from what it produces and consumes internally, if the CO2 used to make what it imports is taken into account then its overall CO2 emissions is actually increasing. Of course they can't easily do anything about that without imposing import duties and starting a damaging trade war. So they will want to keep quiet about it and not let the people realise the whole policy is a pointless and costly charade. Unfortunately for them, the people are starting to find out!

Here is an interesting piece looking at the long list of delays to the progress of fracking for various spurious reasons, the latest of which is to prevent disturbance to birds - despite the fact that the drilling site is located adjacent to a large brickworks. You couldn't make it up! The country seems to be trying to achieve against the meddling of government.

MARGARET THATCHER - A WARMIST TURNED SCEPTIC
It is with great sadness that I learnt of the death of Margaret Thatcher, one of our greatest Prime Ministers. Here is an article from 2010 which shows that, though an early proponent of man made global warming, she also became an early sceptic of the hypothesis. This shows that even great people can be convinced of something that is flawed, but it also shows that she was able to change her mind when she became aware of contrary evidence.

PEAK OIL IS AN ARTIFICIAL CEILING IMPOSED BY A LACK OF IMAGINATION
This article sums up the current situation regarding the world's oil resources, and it predicts a bright future as long as we continue to innovate. WILL WE ALL FALL THROUGH THE CARBON FLOOR?
How fitting that the UK government should introduce the unique Carbon Floor tax on April Fool's Day. This article in the Scotsman sums up the folly of it very well. There seems to be no answer to the question - why inflict an extra burden on a faltering economy? I notice that while the reductions in welfare payments, which also come into effect today, were given very prominent coverage on the news, the new energy tax did not even get a mention. And yet this carbon floor tax will cause more poverty than all the welfare cuts put together as businesses close or move abroad.

MET OFFICE FORECASTS LOOK BIASED
This piece lists the forecasts made by the Met Office and in every case they are predicting mild weather when the result is cold weather. Clearly they are missing something else that is affecting the weather.

CLIMATE CHANGE COMMITTEE IN LAST DITCH DEFENCE
I suppose it is to be expected that the scientists behind the whole edifice of Climate Change would not accept it was wrong easily. This article shows their desperate attempt to paper over the cracks in their pet project. If the real climate continues to move in a very different way to the computer models, the eventual demise of the theory will be inevitable.
WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES TO CLIMATE
This article demonstrates the cynical way that warmist scientists use any unusual weather as "evidence" of climate change. The confusion between climate and weather is one of the most common mistakes in the climate change debate. The comments under the article are also very interesting.

CHIEF SCIENTIST GETS AWAY WITH SOFT INTERVIEW
I just watched the BBC news this evening and heard the outgoing government Chief Scientific Adviser, Prof Beddington, being allowed to state that the kind of weather we are currently experiencing (very cold and snowy) is likely to become the norm - see here. What was so exasperating was that he was not challenged in the slightest. For example no one reminded him that, last year, March was very warm and dry, no one reminded him that we were told a few years ago that we would hardly ever see any snow at all in future "mild" winters. He is simply allowed to trot out his stuff and the viewer is supposed to sit there and swallow it. What he doesn't seem to understand is that most viewers aren't stupid - they have heard too many conflicting stories and they don't believe any of it. The GWPF seems to reach a similar conclusion.

SERIOUS CALLS TO SCRAP UK CLIMATE CHANGE ACT
This piece is an editorial in one of the UK's serious papers and it is unequivocal in calling for the Climate Change Act to be scrapped. At last a serious voice of sanity. I doubt it will have any effect, so deep-seated is the idea that we must continue to de-carbonise, but this will embolden more MPs and others to come off the fence. Such an editorial would have seemed impossible only a couple of years ago, so progress is gathering pace. By the time government acts a lot of money will have been wasted, but that nearly always is the case.

CLIMATE ALMOST AXED FROM UK CURRICULUM
This article reveals this surprising news. There is no doubt that young minds are the easiest to infiltrate and I am surprised that this has happened. Perhaps those in charge of education have realised that the time currently spent on climate change is reducing the amount of time available for the important basic subjects and is simply dumbing down education. Can anyone come up with a better explanation?

THE GREAT GREEN CON REVEALED AT LAST
This article in today's edition of the Mail on Sunday is the latest in a long line of articles rubbishing the IPCC forecasts of global warming. As the demands for a change of energy policy grow stronger, how long will it be before politicians start to break ranks and side with the long-suffering public against the small rump of hard core eco-looneys? It will soon become acceptable to challenge the green orthodoxy and I will feel less alone at council meetings.
Saturday, 16 March 2013
"PLASTIC CARRIERS BAD"
The other day I attended a council meeting at which someone proposed a voluntary ban on issuing free plastic bags should be promoted by the council. the council has no power to enforce a ban, so it would have to be voluntary. The proposer, a member of the public suggested that shops could charge a few pence for a biodegradable bag instead (they cost 100 times as much, I was told ). I pointed out that this would not make any difference. as apart from the carrier bags, plastic was used in practically all the packaging used in the shops and as he was not proposing to ban any of this it would only be a gesture. Also my experience of a similar scheme in a nearby village had achieved no change at all. My fellow councillors decided to go along with the suggestion nevertheless. They seem convinced that plastic carrier bags were inherently evil and should be stopped. Brainwashing does seem to have an effect which no amount of logic can overcome, sadly.

In fact he is a typical left wing politician whose views should be treated with a great deal of suspicion.

TRENDS IN 20th CENTURY GLOBAL WARMING
I recently came across an answer given in parliament to a question on the trend in global warming. See this link: http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201213/ldhansrd/text/121108w0001.htm#12110877000337
I contacted the Met Office to ask for the trend for some periods in between. Below is their reply:
1910-1940: 0.14°C per decade ±0.05°C per decade
1950-1970: 0.01°C per decade ±0.10°C per decade
2000-2012: 0.04°C per decade ±0.11°C per decade
Of course they were right to point out that trends over shorter periods can be skewed by natural variation, but it is both interesting and important to know just how much influence nature plays in our climate over even 20 or 30 years. If global warming can be masked or even reversed by natural factors then how can the warmists claim to predict future amounts of warming?

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
Below is an amusing piece by Peter Mullen which was sent to me. I cannot find a link to it on line so I have put it on in full.
As a mere man, I was wondering how I might spend today, International
Women's Day. Why is there no International Men's Day, by the way? I
suppose for the same reason there's no Association of White Police
Officers. Anyhow, it's all settled, I'll make my way to the London
Science Museum's Exhibition of Gamification in Service of the
Environment. Paula Owens, described as a consultant, explained,
"Gamification is a simple idea " (It will have to be, Paula, to have any chance of success in our present state of national infantilisation) " of using the concepts and mechanics of games but in a non-gaming environment." I see: it's a bit like smoking in a non-smoking zone.
So what's your Gamification, then? It's all being done to help with
Green propaganda. Paula says that people are "switched off by doom and gloom." Well, we can at least be grateful some people are switching
something off. The most fanatical environmentalists I've found are
sixth formers and undergraduates who - after ten years indoctrination
into Global Warming in state "schools" at our expense - preach endless
sermons about saving the planet but can't for the life of them turn
the light off and shut the door when they leave the room.
The Science Museum's exhibition will feature two highly-imaginative
examples of Gamification in the cause of the environment. There's
"Play Your Eco Cards Right" and "Eco Snakes and Ladders." I'm not
making this up. It's all too true, I'm afraid. But I'm so inspired by
the idea that I've managed to think up a few Green Gamifications all
by myself. How about "Game for an Eco-Laugh" (also called "Spoil the
Landscape") in which the task is to invent the silliest and most
unworkable ideas for providing for the country's energy needs. The
winner is the contestant who builds the most windmills and proposes
erecting them in the most beautiful parts of the countryside. For this
idea I should like to express my gratitude to the inventors of the TV
show "Pointless."
"Eco Snakes and Ladders" is just *so last year's* Kyoto. I've devised
a much more interesting version which is called just "Eco Snakes" or
"The Very Bent Hockey Stick." In this you have to compete to tell the
most outrageous untruths about the rise in global temperatures. (The joke is there hasn't been any for eighteen years) Last year's winners were some contestants from East Anglia who modestly withheld their names.
Then there's the mysterious game "Spot the Nuclear." (I'm going to
give the Gamification away, actually and tell you there isn't any nuclear). This will be followed by a few rounds of "Close the Coalmine" and the fiendishly intellectual puzzle "Paying for Gas." Gamification Grand Challenge Day will end with the final round of the popular game "Subsidy" (also called "Rip Off"). In this, contestants dressed up as poor members of the working class will give loads of money to rich landowners to construct the daftest Green fantasies on their property. Those windmills seem to win every year. And then the lights will go out.

UK TOLD TO EXPORT "SURPLUS" ENERGY BY EU MINISTER
Here is proof, if proof was needed, of how out of touch with reality the EU leadership has become. The German EU energy minister is, of course, wedded to the notion that imposing all the costs of decarbonising the economy is essential to "save the planet from global warming". If only someone could save us from the EU and its Alice in Wonderland policies!

1) Blackout Britain: EU Eco-Directive Puts Millions at Risk of Power Cuts
Sunday Express, 24 February 2013
One million homes narrowly escaped a power cut last month as bitterly cold weather placed a massive strain on Britain’s creaking electricity network.

Shutdown was only avoided because a gas-fired station due to close by next winter came to the rescue. Last night experts warned that life-threatening blackouts are increasingly likely as “we head downhill – fast”…
And as a spell of bitter cold once more hits the UK, the near switch-off which came so perilously close on that freezing afternoon, underscores the magnitude of the energy crisis.
Fawley is one of a number of coal and oil power stations being forced into retirement to comply with EU environmental targets. [...]
Ann Robinson, consumer champion at uSwitch, said: “We are facing disaster on energy prices. The dynamic has changed, but the thinking hasn’t.
“What worries me most is that the average household energy bill will be £1,400 by end of the year; £1,500 is a cliff edge at which most people say they’ll switch off the heating entirely.”
Full story
2) Green Energy Bill May Drag Britain Into A New Dark Age
Mail on Sunday, 24 February 2013
Mr Yeo has moved an extraordinary amendment to the Energy Bill that would set a crippling and binding target for the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by generating power in 2030. It would transform the electricity industry and bring huge benefits to the business sector, which has so generously rewarded Mr Yeo.
For the rest of us, however, the effects will be very different. It will cause already high energy bills to soar further and could lead to more power cuts. The effect on business is likely to be even more dramatic…
‘Even without the amendment, the long-term consequences of the Bill will be horrible,’ said Professor Gordon Hughes of Edinburgh University, one of Britain’s leading experts on energy economics. He issued a strong warning the ‘surreal’ amendment could spell the end of British industry. ‘It’s a recipe for deindustrialisation,’ he said.
Prof Hughes thinks the choice is stark: ‘Either we get rid of this obsession, or we give away our future to the rest of the world. The question is whether we’re serious about our economic future or not.’

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE KILLED BY CLIMATE CHANGE?
Of course there are always extreme weather events in the world that can be included in the term "climate change", but even that seems unlikely to give a figure of 300,000 deaths per year. Yet the is the figure cited in a book that is examined here. It seems there are no lengths that extremists will not go to further their cause, for that is what it is.

Here is a new scientific paper that is causing some controversy. It claims that the water vapour from forests causes the winds that drive the climate. We still have a huge amount to learn. That is what some scientists and politicians are afraid of admitting.

IS THE PRECAUTIONARY PRINCIPLE BEING OVER APPLIED?
This article from the Scientific Alliance explores this question through a document from the EU. On the one hand we do not want to take dangerous, unnecessary risks, but on the other hand we must not become so risk averse that we are afraid to take any risks at all.
The precautionary principle is often cited as a reason to limit CO2 emissions, because even if we are not sure that they will cause dangerous global warming, there is a risk, however small. If that is the policy I argue that Los Angeles and San Francisco along with any other towns along the San Andreas Fault Line should be evacuated, but there is no plan to do it and most people seem prepared to take the risk.

GREENS AND COMMUNISTS
When Greens are conpared with the Communists you can see they have many things in common. One is a tendency to do one thing and advise others to do the opposite. A good example is seen here. COMPLAINTS ABOUT BBC BIAS AGAINST CLIMATE ALARM
Yes you did read the headline correctly, people (including the Met Office chief scientist)actually complained that the BBC was biased against the alarmists according to this report. No one could accuse the BBC of being stridently anti alarmist, but the timid report stating that the Met Office had said that global warming would not increase over the next five years was still too much for them. UK CLIMATE RECORD "SHOWS NO WARMING TREND"
That is the conclusion of this article which examines the 300 year old UK climate record. This conclusion seems at odds with some recent pronouncements by the Met Office.
The weather round-up for 2012 has been figuring prominently in news broadcasts in recent days and it is noticeable that "extreme" weather has figured prominently. We are now being warned to expect more extreme rainfall etc, which of course is due to climate change. (Global warming has fallen out of favour, probably due to the unexplained pause in any temperture rise.)

COULD CFC's HAVE CAUSED THE RECENT GW?
This article refers to the hypothesis that the CFC gases that are blamed for causing the hole in the ozone layer could have also caused the warming which occurred in the 1980's and 90's. The argument for this is certainly well made and deserves consideration, at least as much as the CO2 hypothesis.

This piece on Donna Laframboise's blog explains how the IPCC ensures that scientific papers that support the narrative they espouse get into their report, even if they have not yet been published in a scientific journal. Of course we are already aware that many of their lead authors do their best to prevent any papers opposing their view from getting published at all, and certainly kept out of the IPCC report altogether. I refer, of course to the leaked emails known as climategate. here is a good article which discusses the climategate isue in relation to the way science is treated in universities today.

MORE TROUBLE WITH WIND TURBINES
Taxpayers subsidising wind turbines are getting an even worse deal than many realise according to this article. The main findings are that their life-expectancy is only 10 to 15 years instead of the 25 years quoted by the wind industry, also they become less efficient as they get older. All this means that the government need a lot more of them to try to replace the traditional fossil fuel generation (if we ignore their intermittency - which we can't). What it ought to mean is that we simply don't need them and we can't afford them.

NEW IPCC REPORT LEAKED - GW CAUSED BY THE SUN!
Yes astonishingly that seems to be the conclusion according to the scientist who leaked the whole second draft of the report. Read the whole article on WUWT here. Here is a paragraph from the post:
"The admission of strong evidence for enhanced solar forcing changes everything. The climate alarmists can’t continue to claim that warming was almost entirely due to human activity over a period when solar warming effects, now acknowledged to be important, were at a maximum. The final draft of AR5 WG1 is not scheduled to be released for another year but the public needs to know now how the main premises and conclusions of the IPCC story line have been undercut by the IPCC itself."

LATEST CLIMATE PROPAGANDA ON CHANNEL 4
Last evening I watched a programme on Britain's Extreme Weather. It is still available to view on computer (see this link). As I expected it was a one-sided piece of climate change propaganda dressed up as a normal documentary. It began by showing all the various different "extremes" of weather, particularly highlighting the flooding events around the country. I recall no mention of the fact that these all occurred in flood plains or in places surrounded by steep hills. There was no serious attempt to look in detail at the records for rainfall. A couple of harsh winters from the past were mentioned to try to give an impression of balance.
All this was leading to the obvious conclusion which appeared in the last 15 minutes of the hour long programme - man made CO2 was the culprit and two climate scientists of a "warmist" persuasion appeared to warn us that things were likely to get a lot worse. Funnily enough no one bothered to mention that there has been no statistically significant global warming for 16 years despite CO2 levels continuing to rise. Naturally no one was invited on who had any alternative views. This was clearly aimed at those with no knowledge other than the prevailing orthodoxy. As it was on Channel 4 it probably had quite small audience. In view of the mounting evidence that global warming has stopped for the past 16 years I wonder if there will be any attempt to look at this?

LATEST CLIMATE TALKS BRANDED A FAILURE
This report looks at the details. While the green activists would no doubt agree with this analysis, there are still a number of costly measures that Western governments are committed to do. Only when these are scrapped will we start to get back to common sense on this issue.

NEWS FROM LATEST CLIMATE CHANGE JUNKET
This report gives a flavour of the nonsense being cooked up to fleece us all. Heaven help us if this lot are on our side. For a round-up of the final decisions go to this link at the BBC and if you read it you may conclude that the charade goes on, though fortnately at a snail's pace. Maybe by 2015 the world may have cooled and even the zealots will struggle to keep this gravy train on the rails.

THE NEW ENERGY REVOLUTION
This article by Lord Lawson in the Mail explains the huge importance of the new found technology to exploit shale gas and oil. A very good article from a very influential man.

CLIMATE PROPAGANDA DE-BUNKED
This excellent piece from James Delingpole looks at how the media, particularly the BBC, are willing to report anything written by the green NGO's, even though it is easily proved to be one-sided propaganda. Shame on them.

UK CLIMATE AID NOT REACHING THE POOR
£2 billion in aid from the UK is being mis-used according to this article in the Telegraph. Not only is it unnecessary as there is no adverse trend in climate, but as usual the aid is not even reaching the poorest anyway. How typical!

THE BBC'S 10 RULES ON HOW TO MANAGE THE CLIMATE CHANGE DEBATE
The following is a list of the guidance rules by which the BBC expects its staff to deal with articles concerning the climate change debate. To read the full article giving the background go to this link Surely this turns the BBC from an impartial provider of news a into propaganda machine for indoctrinating the public?
Those ten points are:
1. Journalists must resist framing the debate by putting up pro AGW advocates against climate sceptics.
2. Such an approach creates an impression of balance but in fact demonstrates that ‘balance is bias’ …against the consensus and therefore wrong.
3. It is important to train new, young journalists in a new approach to climate change because they will then either take that with them to the higher ranks of the BBC or move to other media organisations where they can then have influence over how the science is covered.
4. Journalists must now present the science as a long term ‘process’ and not look for a ‘result’….do not debate the science…facts are not necessary.
5. It is the Media’s role and responsibility to ensure the Public get the correct message about the science so that they then proceed to behave ‘dutifully’ in response.
6. Sceptics lack the knowledge and scientific background to be qualified to challenge the consensus.
7. Climate sceptics put in danger both Democracy and the Planet…..turn the debate into a ‘morality play’….guilt is good.
8. There needs to be a new kind of reporting….as said science as a ‘process’ but also introduce new voices….ignore the science, look at the consequences of global warming and the necessary responses….bring on economists, historians, politicians, social scientists and businessmen who will ensure the Public are made fully aware of the dangers of climate change according to the consensus.
9. Blur the boundaries between news and current affairs and other broadcast categories…drama, history, wildlife documentaries, anything that will further opportunities to influence the viewer’s perceptions and understanding of climate change.
10. There are no more facts to be found…the science is settled…..that is now the ‘Orthodoxy’.

LATEST RESEARCH - GREENLAND MELT INCREASE INSIGNIFICANT
This article explains the new study and its significance. I hope everyone will sleep easier knowing there is still no prospect of major sea level rise in the foreseeable future. I hope the UN will take note (though I doubt they are listening).

WWF WANT MORE MONEY FOR POOR NATIONS TO COPE WITH CLIMATE CHANGE
This report looks at the latest attempt by the WWF to extract yet more cash from the rich west to give to the poor in order for them to deal with the effects of climate change. This despite the fact that no climate event can be attributed to CO2.

UK GOVERNMENT TO PROTECT INDUSTRY FROM ENERGY PRICE HIKE
This article in the Telegraph looks at the new announcement in the forthcoming Energy Bill. It is good news for energy intensive industries, but the bad news is the rest of us will have to pay the extra to make up for it. So our bill will go even higher.

CO2 REGULATION IS A DISASTER
A new book on this subject is reviewed here. This well written summary lists the powerful arguments against over-regulation of the energy sector for the dubious aim of reducing emissions of CO2.

NEW REPORT - UK SHALE GAS WILL KEEP PRICES DOWN
Here is an article which refers to the report and links to it. It gives a cautious conclusion that shale gas would make a difference to the UK, and is all the more believable for not going over the top. All we are waiting for is the goverment to give the go ahead.

GO GREEN OR DIE SAYS PRINCE CHARLES
Dear old Prince Charles seems to be going ott with his latest speech according to this article in the Independent. On many issues I share his concern, but on this one I beg to differ. It is sad that by so over-stating the argument he will merely re-inforce the views of those who find him an eccentric.

WOULD YOU PAY EXTRA FOR WIND TURBINES - VOTE NOW
Here is the link to the Guardian poll, so do let them have your opinion. Poll closes in about 5 hours.
UPDATE
Poll has now closed and the result was 31% in favour and 69% against, which seems rather convincing evidence that the public do not want dearer electricity, even if it were to cut CO2 (which it would not).

BALANCE ON CLIMATE CHANGE AT THE BBC
This piece from Bishop Hill looks at why the BBC has got it so wrong on the climate debate. By giving up on impartiality the BBC has betrayed its viewers and listeners, and sold out to the green lobby. A public service broadcaster that has done the public a disservice.

UK ENERGY BILL A BAD DEAL
This piece explains the bad news contained in the UK government's new energy bill. It's not all bad news as the government did at least not include a new CO2 reduction target that would have ruled out new gas fired power stations without carbon capture, so the door has been left open to start devloping shale gas.

YET ANOTHER WIND TURBINE SCAM
Just when you thought you had read all the wind farm scams along comes this. You really could not make it up. How could the government fail to see this and do something to stop it? Unfortunately this is just typical of what happens when an artificial market is devised, instead of allowing real competition.
NO SUCCESSOR TO KYOTO LIKELY
This report tells us why no meaningful agreement will be reached. The major sticking point is simple - the so-called "develoing nations such as China and India refuse to subject themselves to reducing their emissions, and the USA, Canada, New Zealand and others refuse to take part in an agreement that does not include them. A classic impasse which looks insoluble. Without all major industrial nations taking part CO2 emission cuts cannot happen.

CIA CLOSES CLIMATE CHANGE DEPARTMENT
This article confirms the headline, which suggests that the hype about climate change causing wars was likely to be an exaggeration, like so much of the climate change hype. Gradually governments are beginning to back off from the collective madness that has engulfed them.

CAN YOU TRUST THE IPCC?
Here is a very good piece about the way the IPCC goes about its business, not its scientific business, but its everyday organisational business. The article looks at two matters; the award of the Nobel Peace Prize is one, and its presence at the latest UN climate change talks is the other. In both cases they seem to be more than a little confused.

BBC HAS A PECUNIARY INTEREST IN AGW
This piece uncovers a hidden link between the BBC's pension fund and promotion of the anthropogenic global warming hypothesis. Something that I have never heard the BBC declare, and nor do I expect them to do so anytime soon.

WHY BIO FUELS WON'T CUT EMISSIONS
According to Matt ridley not only will they fail to reduce emissions, but they will increase food prices as well as energy costs - a real lose-lose scenario. Yet the UK and the EU still persist with the policy.
The BBC has also covered the biomass story.

MORE ON BBC CLIMATE CHANGE DUPLICITY
This article from Christopher Booker (where would the UK climate sceptics be without him?) gives the wider public an opportunity to see how the BBC has abandoned its duty of impartiality at the behest of a one-sided group of climate alarmist organisations. This disgraceful bias is yet more evidence of a lack of integrity by the public service broadcaster. Apart from Booker no other national media has reported this, as far as I am aware.
Here is more on this topic with detail of the little known IBT which seems to wield a lot of power over the media.

ENERGY MINISTER CALLS FOR CURBS ON WIND FARMS
This article highlights new UK Energy Minister, John Hayes strong objections to wind farms. It is hard to imagine that PM David Cameron was unaware of this when he appointed him in the recent re-shuffle.

UK GOVERNMENT SPLIT OVER TOUGH EMISSIONS TARGETS FOR NEW POWER STATIONS
This article discusses the rift at the heart of the Conservative-Lib Dem coalition over the new Energy Bill. What the article reveals is that the Conservatives are at last realising that the targets in the Climate Change Act are actually incompatible with keeping the lights on. The hard bit is trying to explain this to their Lib Dem partners.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY
When you read this article you can see why so many nations are keen (even desperate) to see climate change taken seriously. It's because they expect to get billions of dollars to fight it. If (or when) it eventually falls flat not one single dollar will be repaid. It is simply the ultimate ponzi scheme. This is a benefits culture on a world scale, not just a client state, but dependent nations. Of course it has many facets and when temperatures continue to flatline or even fall the focus will switch to sea level rise or increasing acidity in the ocean, or something yet to be mentioned. The developed world is beginning to wise up and smell the coffee.

LIST OF BBC "CLIMATE EXPERTS" REVEALED
You can read the full story and the list here on the WUWT website. This has been a bad wekk for the BBC, but I bet this will not make the national news, yet it is more clear evidence that the BBC is far from impartial in its reporting of the contentious issue of so-called "climate change. What can the BBC be trusted on?

HUMAN CO2 EMISSIONS MAY BE STAVING OFF A NEW ICE AGE
That is according to This article referencing some research by Swedish climate scientists. If true it rather turns the current argument on its head. Next we will be trying to increase emissions!

UK LABOUR PEER ASKS AWKWARD QUESTION ON GW
Here's an account of a Labour Peer questioning the extent of temperature rise since 1880, with the detailed reply given by the government, probably with some help from the Climate Research Unit. It is interesting to read the comments below the post as some are very sharp. It is looking as though the sceptics are growing both in numbers and confidence.

UK CLIMATE CHANGE DEPARTMENT LIVES A JET-SET LIFESTYLE
The Tax Payer's Alliance has done some research and discovered that our political leaders who keep on exalting us to forsake such high emission things as air travel have been quietly bumping up their air miles. Is anyone surprised? Of course not, after all their travel is so much more important than ours!

STORM SANDY NOTHING TO DO WITH GW
This article looks at the facts and makes the case against tropical storm Sandy being affected by man-made climate change. Yet the alarmists cannot resist trying - it is just too tempting not to use all the pain and suffering from the storm to advance their "cause", despite all the evidence pointing to them being wrong. Yet another desperate attempt to bolster their very weak case.

NEW ZEALAND GIVES ITSELF A COMPETITIVE EDGE IN CARBON PRICE WAR
This article explains how the New Zealand government has backed off from having a high price for carbon emissions, thus giving its industry a head start over others like the UK and Australia. I notice one interesting line in the linked article which says that Australians had given their government a mandate to have a carbon trading scheme. That is the opposite of my recollection. Once one or two countries start to break ranks with the carbon taxing nations it won't be long before others join them.

"THE CONSENSUS IS CRACKING", SAYS BOOKER
This article from Christopher Booker shows him in upbeat mood about the recent rebellious noises from our MPs, both on wind farms and also the wretched EU budget. It may be a faltering first step, but at least it seems to be in the right direction.

FOSSIL FUELS ARE THE FUTURE
This article by UKIP MEP, Roger Helmer, looks at the current supplies and reserves of fossil fuels and finds that far from running out, there are ample supplies for the foreseeable future, which means that they are not likely to rocket in price, thus making renewables appear to be comparable. On the contrary it is the renewables which are going to be the costly option, but will our political leaders have the good sense to change course?
Here is another well-argued article by Ruth Lea who looks at why the UK needs to stop building wind farms and concentrate on gas.
