Kathryn Porter explains how the electricity system relies on keeping the grid stable and how this is achieved in practice. It is much more difficult with renewables and the chance of having a blackout is greatly increased compared with traditional power stations using coal or gas. It is a long explanation, but worth reading as Kathryn is very clear with her explanation.
