CLIMATE -- NO NEED TO PANIC, IT'S MUCH BETTER THAN WE THOUGHT

Yes, it's true, there is no longer any need to panic over rapidly rising temperatures. The link below looks at the latest research by scientists at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  The new value for the warming trend in the mid-troposphere is now down to 0.09*C per decade, and remember the mid-troposphere is, according to greenhouse gas theory, supposed to be where we should expect to find the greatest amount of warming, the so-called "hot-spot".

So we can all relax and enjoy the good weather and make sure we are prepared for the bad, just as we always have.

    1992 to 2022
    Trend: 0.217 ±0.063 °C/decade (2σ)

This is a 30 year average for this temp data set. gistemp v3

  2. The surface data is subject to all sorts of errors due to the location of the thermometer. Some are actually surrounded by tarmac and concrete, near to traffic, even aircraft. The most accurate and reliable is the satellite data with the widest coverage.

    1. Those areas can be removed from the data set and we would still get a warming trend

Other lines of evidence for rising temperatures
The surface temperature trends are also confirmed from multiple, independent sources:

Surface temperature analysis by NASA GISS finds strong agreement with two independent analyses by CRU's Global Temperature Record and NCDC.
Weather balloon measurements have found from 1975 through 2005, the global mean, near-surface air temperature warmed by approximately 0.23°C/decade.
Satellite measurements of lower atmosphere temperatures show temperature rises between 0.16°C and 0.24°C/decade since 1982.
Ice core reconstructions found the 20th century to be the warmest of the past five centuries, confirming the results of earlier proxy reconstructions.
Sea surface temperatures, borehole reconstructions and ocean temperatures all show long-term warming trends.

  3. During the second half of the 20th century the sun went through the strongest solar maximum in centuries. UV radiation reaching the atmosphere was 11 times the normal. That just for having an idea. During those years skin cander and cataracts became more common.

    1. We have satellites watching the sun.

The sun's energy has decreased since the 1980s but the Earth keeps warming faster than before.
