ROYAL FAMILY SPLIT ON GLOBAL WARMING?

I have been handed a copy of the correspondence below, in which it is clear that HRH Prince Philip had personally asked that Ian Plimer, the renowned Geologist and well known climate sceptic author, be invited to give the Annual Prince Philip Lecture, only to find that he is later pressured into rescinding the invitation. The excuse given - "as I am sure you are aware, members of the Royal Family need to be scrupulous in avoiding any appearance of advocating or supporting a particular political stance", seems rather disingenuous, as Prince Charles has very publicly taken a stance personally on a number of politically sensitive matters, notably on climate change where he is a well known alarmist.

This is the highest profile example yet of pressure being applied to prevent any alternative to the 'official stance' being publicised.

COAL STILL CHEAPER THAN BIOMASS

This article in the Times looks at the decision of the management of the Drax power station to continue to burn coal rather than go over to biomass. The decision is based on cost (of course) and apparently even with the current level of government subsidy coal is cheaper, even after buying carbon emission trading permits. We are seeing the start of a massive increase in fuel and energy prices, largely driven by a vain, but hopeless attempt to reduce CO2 emissions.

George Monbiot, the darling of the Greens, is starting to question some of the key tenets of the environmentalists in this article. He rightly recognises that solar panels are not a viable way of making electricity. When he starts to question it, how long will it be before our politicians start to do so? CLIMATE SCIENCE CONSPIRATORS TO ESCAPE PROSECUTION

It appears from this report that the scientists responsible for writing the emails from the UKs Climate Research Unit are to escape prosecution for deliberately avoiding complying with the Freedom of Information Act. The Act was so badly drafted that there was a loophole in it.

THE IPCC REPORT - IS IT A COMPLETE SHAMBLES?

This research by a Canadian blogger casts doubt on a whole range of reports contained in the vast IPCC document which was supposed to be the unimpeachable source of scientific truth on which the world's governments were to enact legislation to "save the planet".

After the recent email leaks followed by the ridiculous claims about Himalayan glaciers disappearing by 2035, no doubt others will take a critical look at the rest of the document. Siberia is a place where global warming is said by the alarmists to be warming more than most, so it does seem strange to say the least, that they are using only a small precentage of sites and presumably 'interpolating' the figures for the areas that are missing. There could be an innocent explanation for this. If so, let's hear it.

THE REAL MEANING OF 'HIDE THE DECLINE'

This article from the Mail is very interesting, but the best part is where it de-bunks the 'Hockey Stick' graph by showing how the use of tree-ring data as a proxy for temperature gives a completely ridiculous result, which was hidden by a 'trick' which the ordinary citizen would regard as completely dishonest.

COPENHAGEN - BROWN LOOKS AT PLAN B

Brown's plan B wants to make an agreement excluding China. How on Earth can you get a meaningful agreement excluding the world's biggest emitter of CO2. This is a farce and everyone will see it as such.

HERE'S WHY COPENHAGEN IS AN IRRELEVANCE

This article explains the numbers which show that no matter what is agreed in Copenhagen, emissions of CO2 will go on increasing, because the developing nations will more than make up for any cuts made by the developed nations. All the pain felt by the West, all the wealth tranfer made to the rest of the world will not prevent the very thing that Al Gore and James Hansen et al claim will lead to irreversible catastrophic warming. How ironic.

WHAT IS SURFACE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE?

Here is an interesting look at what is actually meant by the term Surface Average Temperature. It is a tricky thing to define as the link shows. As this is the fundamental measurement that the whole global warming debate is about it is important to understand it - or at least to understand just how difficult it is to define or measure accurately. At present it would be fair to say that the inaccuracy in measuring it is almost as great as the total amount of warming over the twentieth century. That is a sobering point in such a heated subject.

MASSIVE EU CARBON TRADING FRAUD UNCOVERED

Here already the massive fraud which was widely predicted to follow the introduction of CO2 emission trading schemes.

Not only are such schemes costing us all a great deal of money, but they also don't deliver the massive CO2 reduction that climate alarmists are calling for. They are simply a lose, lose option. The alternative, which is a carbon tax, is off the agenda because it would link the governments to the cost.

THE CRACKS ARE SHOWING

This post on EUReferendum Blog highlights the wind of change that is blowing through the Global Warming debate. I find particularly ironic the bit about thousands of people from NGO's standing outside the conference for eight hours in freezing conditions, only to be told that they were permanently banned from it. Talk about being tortured for your beliefs! And then to learn that the UN had issued 45 thousand passes for a hall with a capacity for 15 thousand - it beggars belief!

"2010 THE HOTTEST EVER" - MET OFFICE

The UK Met Office has stuck its neck out with this prediction, based on El Nino conditions in the Pacific. Only time will tell if they get it right, but it must be a brave effort.

FIDDLING THE DATA, BIG TIME

This report looks at one set of data for Darwin, Australia. By looking at how this data has been 'adjusted' the author reveals a great deal about the kind of fiddles that may have been going on elsewhere. I'm sure that once all the raw data is put out in the open there will be many experts pouring over it and it will be interesting to see if they turn up many more blatant attempts to produce 'warming' by 'adjustment'.

Here's another data set this one for Nashville, Tennessee. Once again the article from Watts Up With That illustrates the way the raw data has been adjusted for no obvious reason, other than to show a clear warming trend.

HADLEY CRU RELEASE MORE DATA, BUT.......

This article explains the spin and double talk of the Hadley Climate Centre's claim to have released data - yes they have released some more data, but it is not in its original state, but has been subjected to certain 'enhancement'. They can't go on pulling that 'trick' anymore - they have been rumbled!

ITS THE MATHS STUPID!

With all the furore over the climategate emails, it's easy to overlook the simple truth which is that the maths of climate is impossible to solve. This article by a mathematician puts its effectively but simply, and yet the pretence goes on that we not only understand but have solved the mysteries of forecasting and controlling our climate. What utter folly and misplaced hubris.

WHEN WILL THE WEST WAKE UP?

Christopher Booker has once again highlighted a scandal. This time it's that job losses are directly a result of our so-called climate change policy (aided and abetted by the EU). How many job losses like those in Redcar will we put up with before the public start to protest? Maybe when job losses are combined with power cuts and further massive electricity price hikes we will become a little angry?

UK ENERGY PRICES DOUBLE IN A DECADE

This report gives the details. Not only have prices for gas and electricity more than doubled for consumers, but even though wholesale energy prices have fallen by more than 50% this year those falls have not been passed on to the public. What the report does not mention is that a considerable part of the increase is due to the rush to build uneconomic wind turbines to reduce CO2 emissions.

'SCEPTICS ARE MUDDLED' SAYS STERN

In this report Lord Stern claims that climate sceptics are muddled. Perhaps he needs to get his own facts straight - yes there is evidence of climate change. No one doubts that the climate is changing and will continue to do so.

But this does not mean that CO2 increases are responsible, and neither Lord Stern, or anyone else has yet produced any convincing evidence that it is. It is not up to me or any other sceptice to provide an alternative hypothesis.

It is for those who support the CO2 hypothesis to provide the clear evidence - and put all their data in the public domain so it can be checked. I hope this is clear to Lord Stern and all the other alarmists.

US NEWS BULLETIN ON CLIMATEGATE

Compare this news bulletin from the USA with the coverage from the BBC and ITV in the UK and you can understand why their politicians are much bolder in challenging the so-called 'consensus' view than those in the UK, where much deference is given to alarmists.

THE TRUTH HIDDEN IN THE LEAKED DATA

Here is aforensic look at the leaked data which goes far beyond emails, and shows a complete disregard for the truth and a cynical manipulation in order to obtain the result they were looking for. No amount of whitewash can cover the extent of the fiddling that has been revealed. It is nothing short of a breathtaking scandal which does to science what the expenses scandal has done for UK politics. But this can only get the impact it deserves if a supine media gives it the coverage needed. The problem is that only statistics experts can understand the extent of the scandal and it may be covered up by those who believe (wrongly) that they are doing so in order to 'save the planet'.

This piece by Dominic Lawson explains the double-talk and hypocrisy which are all part of the global warming circus currently in Copenhagen. The article is very revealing and shows a shocking, scandalous situation which should be much more widely known.

US TO REGULATE CO2 AS A "POLLUTANT"

This article explains how a US agency on environment matters has decided that CO2 is a 'pollutant' which must be subject to control. Yet another crazy twist in the 'climate saga' which is being played out on the world stage. What this means in practice we have to wait and see, but it will mean masses of regulation. REPORT SHOWS DECLINE IN SEA LEVELS

Here's an interesting report which refers to a study carried out this year into sea levels all over the world. What's interesting is that thi study shows that sea levels have actually declined over the least three years, in marked contrast to the ever more doom-laden predictions from the 'alarmist' camp. These figures at least cast doubt on the situation, if they are not enought to completely refute the alarmists.

INCOMPETENCE OR WHAT?

This article seems an astonishing gaff, given the recent email fiasco, but the fact that it is by the BBC is all the more remarkable. All this week ITV news have been reporting from the Himalayas about the impending demise of the glaciers there. Obviously the Himalayas were singled out as a result of the report referred to in the BBC article. Was it just incompetence or was there some other underlying motive.

This pdf tells the story of how a temperature record in New Zealand showing no trend has been turned into one which shows a distinct warming trend. What makes this seem fishy is that the scientists behind it are not prepared to give a full explanation. Where silence and secrecy prevail people will draw their own conclusions.

CRU PROMISE TO PUBLISH DATA IN FULL

As a direct result of the pressure from the Climategate fallout, the UK's Climate Research Unit has now promised to publish its temperature data in full. This may be a bit difficult however, if they were teling the truth when they earlier claimed that they had destroyed much of it.

This report shows the fact that land acts as a natural sink for CO2 which could account for most if not all of Australia's CO2 emissions. The fact that it is not accepted would seem to show that the ETS is more about raising taxes than in real accounting.

Yes this article by none other than arch alarmist, George Monbiot, call for no less than the resignation of the head of the Climate Research Unit at Hadley UK, over the 'climategate' emails leak. Of course he then goes on to say that he still believes in the global warming scare and writes a long diatribe to support his thesis, but the extraordinary thing is his acknowledgement of just how seriously he regards the contents of the leaked emails, even though other alarmists have tried to shrug it off as nothing more than banter between scientists.

A large amount of emails and other sensitive data from the Hadley Climate Centre in East Anglia UK, was released onto the internet yesterday. This article gives some details. Some of the exchanges released show the thinking of our top climate scientists seems to be far from the objective process that is required for impartial evidence-gathering and scientific research.

COPENHAGEN TREATY WILL LEAD TO 'WORLD GOVERNMENT'

This is the claim made by Lord Monckton in an interview on Ausralian radio. His claim is based on a draft treaty which was uncovered on the UN website and passed on to him. Monckton has made a speech in the USA and in Canada warning people of the danger of governments signing such a binding treaty. This interview is very clear and well worth listening to.
